Jagr is a phenom in his own right.

Greats talkiing about greats. Gotta love it.

Mario played against my Leafs and I watched the game. Even the late great Pat Quinn who was the leaf coach said it didn’t matter they lost. It was better for hockey that Mario was back

That was a magical game. It really wasn't an important game, just another mid-season regular season game. But it ended up being so special.

There's a recent video of Gretzky (he was pretty drunk, and likely has an alcohol problem, but that's another story) who said that Mario was better than him and would have broken all his records if he could gave remained healthy.

Sports comeback are the best stories. Lemieux Lafleur Woods and Jagr to some extent.

If you were any good and played with Mario, you were guaranteed 50 goals !

I liked Robby Brown, but he would have never sniffed 40 goals but for Mario. Still laugh about Hexstall chasing him around after he scored on him.

Mario versus Wayne. Who was the greatest? I saw both in their prime and they went about things different, they were different physically, but their end result was the same. Mario was stronger and bigger, but do not underestimate Wayne's physical abilities. Both have a mind and an eye for the game that I haven't seen since. McDavid might be the closest to it but off. Their had a cerebral understanding of what was on the ice. The two smartest players I have ever seen. Messier, Yzerman, Sakic, Savard, etc. all those guys were great players but never had the cerebralness of those two.

You're lost if you don't think McDavid is every bit as good as Wayne and Mario. For goodness sake he's playing in the salary cap era. If he wasn't he'd be surrounded with talent like Wayne and Mario. He would hit 200 many of times.

​@@Insignia6 hell no, not even close. Have you seen Mario's teamates pre jagr? Those guys were garbage and Mario was putting up almost 200 pts. McDavid is great, but youre kidding yourself if hes in the great one and super mario's tier in ANY era

Jagr as Pens captain only knew how to play for himself Mario made EVERY player around him better

Jagr is his own way is a nice guy and certainly was a great player, but he did not have the personality of a leader.

What rock were you living under during the late 90s? The Pens were in bankruptcy, Jaromir was playing with a bunch of “no name” players - and he turned fricking Stu Barnes into a 30 goal scorer. Once Barnes was traded from the Pens his output dropped by roughly half. Jagr turned guys like Kip Miller into 20 goal scorers - again - during the height of the dead puck era when games were routinely being decided by tired ass scores of 1-0, 2-1, 3-1. They could have stuck a damn road cone on Jagr’s line and he would’ve turned it into a goal scorer.
