Made $41m during his playing career and now he is humble enough to be a lunch man! What a legend!
It's nice to see a football player that pulled the plug at the right time, isn't shaking or a drug addict, doesn't need a cane, isn't throwing around money at strip joints and isn't completely broke and working part time as a bus driver because he didn't budget smartly. There's no shame in being a bus driver, but it's nice seeing him doing something he enjoys.
@ZioGiovanni

I can only speak for the shaking and cane because the time will unfortunately come when the effects of CTE and past injuries can no longer be held back as one ages. I loved playing contact sports, but how I suffer from it now at mid-life makes me ponder whether it was worth it.
The clip of him towering over the kids as he is walking down the hallway reminds me of Arnold in “Kindergarten Cop”

I wish more NFL and NBA players had this kind of drive to help their community and kids. Seeing an example like this in schools is what our kids need as an encouragement to be good human beings, not just striving for MORE AND MORE AND MORE material things. Such an inspiration!

@@yvonnecortes_as someone who follows nba he’s statements is completely true…I’d say 50% of nba players help at least the community they grew up in…have a gym they support, a school basketball program they support a lot of these players aren’t even making top dollar so it does go unnoticed by the media. For example I’m a raptors fan and many players help kids on this team but it’s a Canadian team so it won’t exactly be shown by American media…

@@graememorgan9278 Most public schools do too, but they instead spend thousands of dollars on reading and math curriculums that they don't actually need because they don't have good leadership and lack resourceful teachers. They also throw a bunch of food away and starve the kids because of random rules made by superintendents. Food should be a number one priority. Can't learn if you're starving.
As a former crazy lunch lady lol, I admire his hard work and dedication to the kids in providing them with good meals every day. For anyone who has never work in a school cafeteria, I can tell you from experience it is HARD work and these women and men do not get enough recognition. God bless you. ❤❤

Gosh he looks so different slimmed down. I thought it was two different people. So awesome that he's doing something that he loves and of service to his community.
Well done NFL films, well done. To you Mr.Veldheer it looks like the world is a better place with you in it.
Him trying to make them eat that salad and that kid in the back ground screaming we don’t care 😂😂😂😂😂 I love what he is doing tho it’s really is great!!!
I don't know this guy, never heard of him, don't follow NFL as much, don't know why the YT algorithm recommended this....but just seeing this is beautiful gesture of service esp when you are on the top of the world. Such an inspiration, for the kids and for me. Made me rethink how I can be better as a caretaker at my home church here in Kenya.
bringing the NFL nutrition to school, what a legend
Absolutely love this! I was in corporate work since 17 and after my kids left the next I made a change. I work as the head cook at a school and it is absolutely the most rewarding job I ever had!
I think its really cool how he tries to make foods that kids dislike more approachable by actually caring about the seasoning and balance. I remember hating the school lunch growing up because it was all just processed and bland junk. I would've loved to have him working at my school.
@jameshampton1832

Well I cant say every lunch crew really cares or if they are just doing their job in a dull daze. However they also put some challenging restrictions on the foods content.
I'm amazed at how trim he is. Most linemen are massive... not only muscle but just mass... so they can push people around. It appears he was able to slim up after retiring, and I applaud him for that. The calorie intake these guys do is all but inhuman, and breaking yourself from that has to be extremely difficult.
@maciejguzek3442

difficult? For many players it's a big relief to come back to a more natural weight for them , if that's the case (and it is often). It's even more visible in strongman , these guys describe eating as even harder part of the job than actual working out.

@@nealwright5630 Difficult for you or for me, that's for sure :) We don't really know what sits in the head of that one promille-of-a-promille who becomes an elite pro. I think difficulty is determined by whether his weigth at pros was 'natural' or not (deliberately achieved by a determined effort, as part of a job of a pro). He looks much more natural as a slim dude, but this is only my impression of an ignorant onlooker. btw my thoughts about this stuff may be under impression of Hafthor Bjornsson weight loss (50kg immediately lost after retirement by 6'9 World Strongest Man, but it's a slightly different case because he went down from ~200 to 150kg)

really made me wanna cry seeing him serving REAL food for the kids.. this guy is doing God's work here..
Did anyone else catch when he was telling the kids to try the slaw saying it’s good for them someone shouts out “i don’t care” 😂😂😂😂 had me dead
Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is a real man.
So sweet that he is devoting the time to his children, the children at the school. Memories for his children through their lives, that at some point they will find themselves looking back on and cherishing the relationship all the more. 🙂
I still remember that photo of him in the gym surrounded by other athletes. He was massive, made everyone around him look tiny
As a former student here, everyone LOVES him and all of the middle school boys are obsessed with him ❤. Plus, the food 100% upgraded when he came!
What a great story. He could retire snd live a comfortable life but instead he is making a massive difference to his school community.

This is just ridiculously inspirational. He's not the statistic and what he's doing will motivate others to find a calling to serve/give back to their communities in their own way. Props to the this guy and the school!
As a school food service director I applaud you! Our children are the future. Good nutrition with a fruit and vegetable forward menu is essential to positive growth both physically and mentally.
I was a food and nutrition 4h teacher in our local school to 4th and 5th graders and I LOVE seeing this! Bravo! We need more like him!
As a cook I love that you are making them try new food not a lot of kids get to try new foods when they go home and this opens up a lot of new opportunities!!
This video brought tears to my eyes! I really like how much his wife and children support his choices. The school and community are truly blessed.
He made a career in NFL, but he made better carrier than ever!! I really proud of this gentleman!

Hillsdale Charger here-thank you for the new weight room. The old one before 2014 was wretched. The new one is glorious. Happy you made it to the NFL and made Hillsdale proud, and are living a life of virtuous manhood for your family and community. Ad Maiorem Dei Gloria
I love this so much!!!! My little brother is the pickiest eater, he would only eat pizza & bread ever since he was 3 or 4… He never got to experience all the delicious flavors! He’s now 14 and has such a hard time eating healthy. I appreciate him for doing this!!! Kids need to pushed out of their comfort zones & supported 😄
