The thing that always works for me is a standard rubber band that they put on newspapers sometimes, the thick kind. I put it around the rim of the lid and use that to gain tremendous grip.

I prefer the rubber bands that bundle stalks of celery. Newspaper rubber bands get covered in newsprint and smell weird. But, yeah, this is the fastest method to opening jars. I also put rubber bands on bottles of soy sauce and maple syrup to make it easier to reopen them later.

Honestly, Link’s hair looks better wetter…

Brother here. Same exact thing. Hot sauce tops, doesn't shut ketchup caps, etc. It's so irritating 😮‍💨

When Link said "put your tops on your jars" at the very end he sounded just like the dog Napoleon from Aristocats

I always thought you were supposed to use the rubber grip on the lid too!! Definitely going to have to try it on the jar itself!!

You're already doing it right. The jar or bottle needs to be dry, but it's the lid you need traction on.

You can actually see therapy working in Link. Years ago he wouldn't have been as calm and cool as he was about the pranking. I'm actually really proud of his progression and self control in these types of situations.

I’m with Rhett and Link: we had one of those rubber mats and I always used it to grip the lid. I always felt like you could get a better grip on the big jar than on the little lid so I always used it on that.

Rhett and Link, you have gotten me through tough times, I do not know of any other way to put this but simply, thank you. I try to be more optimistic in life because of you guys.

I see the joke link was about to make then realized he would be cancelled😂

When he put them back down I was like, “good job, honey.”

I just push in something like a fork between the lid and the side of the glass jar and push/pull a little to let a little air in and that breaks the seal easy peasy.

I always turn the jar upside down and whack it on the counter, works everytime unless it's honey, molasses, or stuff that's sticky. Then I run the hottest water I possibly can on it.

the running the jar lid under hot water is our GO-to in my household for many years now. pretty much always does the charm!

Tapping the side of the jar usually only works for me when I use the thick handle of a butter knife, and I typically am hitting it pretty hard.

I have a jar opener that I've had for years. It's made of thick plastic and looks like the opposite end of a metal bottle opener. It has a little grabber piece on it. You put the grabber piece on the underside of the jar lid and lift up. The lid pops and there you have it. Anyone can do it. I used to use the rubber 'mat' that Link was speaking about these things will eventually tear which mine did.

The reason they're doing it again was that last episode in which they tried opening jars was also a prank episode in which a jar of pickled pig's feet was super glued shut as a joke so they're keeping to the prank theme, I think

Always smacked the top and/or used a towel/rag/shirt to grip to lid better. As for the rubber grips made for opening I assumed they were used in the same fashion to grip the lid

The best jar opening trick is lightly hitting the sides on a counter hands down.

I’ve used the utensil trick, works for me. Just a few taps

I have a jar opener. But it’s not mechanical. Certainly helps with stubborn jars although sometimes you have to try 2 or 3 times with really difficult jars.

I thought they'd give Link giant pasta with like a good sauce and be nice to him

For me, banging the rim of the lid on the side of my counter works… and on the rare chance it doesn’t work is using a spoon under the lid and using it like a crowbar. I have really easily dislocatable joints so results may vary.

A trick I use, which usually works, is whack a corner of the lid on the counter to loosen the seal.

i just wiggle scissors/butter knife under the ridge of the lid where fingers go, it pops every time

I just use a pair of channel-lock pliers if the lid is stubborn. Not at all convinced a special purpose tool is warranted here for most people...

I run a jar under the water as hot as it will go for a couple minutes, works every time.

I still use my circle rubber grip lol
