    What kind of board is that? Is it some kind of waterproof cement board or foam board meant for plaster to be applied to? It looks really useful, with the ridges keyed in already for the plaster to stick, and you just use silicone between the seams? In USA to plaster onto a wood structure you need to staple a metal wire net on first, with water resistant tar paper behind it, this looks a lot better and like it saves time. I love the Japanese style pointed trowels, I'm so glad I have them in USA. I have one from Japan and one from Taiwan.

    Thank you for your message ! Yes, it's some kind of waterproof cement board. We call 'lathe cut board'. It is very strong and easy to stick with cement !

    which Japanese trowel is used to apply very stiff lime plastering requiring very high compression to get the plaster to move across the wall ?

    Forgive my ignorance, but what makes this 'traditional' and what's the difference with modern plastering? Is it the materials used, or perhaps the techniques?

    Thank you for your comment !! He works with traditional techniques. His dad is also a craftsman and he learned techniques from him !!
