About Tanabata and Wish Strips
Tanabata, or the Star Festival, is celebrated in Japan on July 7th. People write their wishes on colorful paper strips called “tanzaku” and hang them on bamboo branches. This tradition is based on a legend where the stars Orihime and Hikoboshi, separated by the Milky Way, meet once a year. Making your own tanzaku with origami adds a personal touch to this festive celebration.
This is how to make a simple tanzaku with just one piece of origami paper♪ It's a cute decoration with stars, hearts, Orihime and Hikoboshi, etc. Please try making it as a Tanabata decoration♪
