Japanese Mini Cooper - Walk around & Mods
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Daily Updates: / mightycarmods
We take a walk around Moog's new JDM Rover 1.3L Mini Cooper from Japan, plus get a brief history on the Classic Mini story. We also answer the common question of "What Mods Should I Do To My Car First" using MCM 'SWAT' mods.
MCM Shop: www.mightycarmods.com/collecti...
MCM Facebook: / mightycarmods
MCM Forum: forums.mightycarmods.com
The car now known as the Mini went through many different naming conventions and 'brands' over the years. For the sake of simplicity in this video we're just using the term 'Mini'
Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.

Cars are all about being able to create emotion, the heritage, and what you like. You can tell this hits all 3 points the way Moog speaks about it! Good luck with her and I cannot wait to see what's in store!

by classic do you mean that body style or an actual older car. Moog's is a 96 or newer model which usually aren't too expensive. I guess your location can play a role in price but as long as they were exported to where you live they shouldn't be too much.
@PhillipRyanConaway
9 жыл бұрын
Classic, as in, the marque used for the non-BMW cars. There are a few of them in U.S. but it's difficult to find one that is less than $10k USD. Their recent popularity has definitely raised their value.
@vroomtastic1496

+Ryan Conaway your best bet is to have one imported from the UK. Find an importing company willing to work with you, find a Mini that's at least 25 years old, and have it shipped over. I was looking into it recently and it would be pretty easy to have a decent car here for 4-5k USD

I had a Mini 1000 as my first car too. I have owned one more since then. I will always love the Mini.
This makes me want a Mini even more, especially since I found the perfect one the other day. £4,200 and in mint condition, the owners claim to have spent thousands on it and it shows. New windshield, grill, wheels and tires, handbrake handle, gearshift knob, bucket seats and twin exhausts. To top it of it's the 1275 engine. Perfect.

Great video guys :) and awesome job hosting Brandcast! We were the content managers for the screen animations. Loved it!
Almost 4am but mcm uploaded a video so I gotta watch it
When you said the outside isn't changing it made me sooo happy :D
This channel is only getting better! Thank you for putting time and effort into these videos!
I really enjoy this style of video. It has a different feel from all the other automotive videos out there and I find it rather interesting. I love the way Moog shares a bunch about the history of these minis It would be really cool to see more videos like this form you guys.
First look inside the new MCM headquarters!
He didn't mention the most iconic owner of the Mini, Mr. Bean. :) #MrBean25
I see so many performance mods on minis where I live, one guy even went full on with a supercharged race tuned engine and box, looks insane haha love these cars, and btw they did these spec cars for the UK too, the 2001/2002 mini Cooper were the last of them, but the most important thing about this is just the passion in your voice as you speak about them moog, they speak to you like nothing else ever could and I don't think I've seen you out of every video you guys ever made be so happy just to own such an everyday car. That's pure love right there.
This walk-around is so great, and the quality of your videos is getting better and better. You can tell that love is put into every one of the videos you do. This MINI looks absolutely mad, and as I've said before my '06 is so jealous. While I agree that the 'new' MINI is more complicated and maybe BMW just slapped the MINI badge on, but, I think that the first generation big MINIs have something to offer as well. There is a huge modding culture with my R53, and I'm super happy to be a part of it. My german R53 is unlike any other german car I've driven (granted it hasn't been a lot) in that it has character, and just wants to be thrashed. My buddy and I had the opportunity to throw it around the corners for the first time since buying it two weeks ago. No matter how hard we pushed it, the car just seemed to be begging for more. I'm so excited to begin modding it, and thanks to MCM I feel like I have a good understanding of what to tackle. It WILL be autocrossed, and it will be loved. The R53 certainly isn't a classic MINI; there is nothing that can replace it. Let's just agree that it's no slouch, either. You guys rock, and thanks again for helping me begin my modding journey.
Now for Marty and their new garage/workshop aka not Marty's moms driveway

Really looking forward to see this develop. There's been a lot of hate for this car in the KZread comments and Facebook page, but you just need to see how passionate Moog is about the car to realise how great this series will be. Perhaps it'll open a few minds along the way.
Thanks for sharing all of the history on the mini, I didn't know much about them. That was awesome and I look forward to seeing all of the new mods! Thanks guys
their was/is firm in the UK that made/make 16v heads for the A series ..i read in a magazine ..Fast Car maybe in the early 1990s maybe about then ..i remember the 1st 6 month of production all the kits went to Japan ..i think in a felt lined mahogany box ..i think the name of the company was Kad....that will be a good mod as its a period one for the car if you can get 1

I got a huge chuckle out of your intro. Back in 1967, when I was 15, I got my first car - a '62 Morris Mini (with a '65 850 engine !) I too learned on the driveway - back and forth. That must have driven the neighbours batty. The man who sold it to me raced a Cooper S at Mosport and refurbed Minis for sale to support his habit. So of course I hung around his garage and absorbed the Ambiance of Modding. He sold me a louvered hood (bonnet) for $2 ! That car was coloured white and black. I wanted British Racing Green. All the neighbourhood kids helped in sanding and body prep. One week before the paint, another mini at school beat me too it, so I went 'exotic (in my now 16 year old opinion) and went with a 'Corvette "hugger orange" That car glowed !. I still have the Mini Jones so you can be sure I will enjoy every one of your adventures with this beauty. Cheers from Canada
This is probably the first time I saw Moog's eyes glowing when he talks about a specific car. A car with history, especially those related to your childhood, is always special. Nice one mate!

Sorry Moog - the ONLY reason the Mini was designed was to cut in on the huegly popular Volkswagen Beetle in the 50' and 60's. ALL cars after the war were small and crappy and unsafe. My mother died in a Mini and my brother almost got killed in one. Yes, it is mostly because Cornwall is full of arseholes in tractors and Range Rovers, but the Mini has no safety features what so ever and I am surprised how many people still get behind the wheel of such a death trap. I want to drive a car that looks cool and saves my life if some twat decides to go racing in town traffic...

not true. The story that Moog tells is true. If you want a death trap then get yourself a beetle. I'm sorry but you must be pretty silly to crash a mini as they handle so well. Issigonis said it himself
@Candisa
6 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry the Mini is linked to such bad memories for you, and it is a fact it's pretty much safer to ride a motorcycle, but that can be said about a lot of older cars, including Volvo's of the time the Mini came out. My first cars were Mini's and just like Moog I hope to soon be the proud owner of one again, and although I will keep my 2016 3star safety rated comfortable daily car alongside the Mini, I am pretty sure anytime the weather is reasonable and the planned trip isn't too long I'll be going with the Mini. Despite being a car enthusiast I am very down to Earth about even the rarest car being just a materialistic utility... But the combination of the nostalgia and the looks, the handling, the feel... of a Mini simply makes it the only car I long to own again, spend as much time in/on it as possible, and never ever sell again, even if it's unreliable or something or somebody wants me to sell it. I know in detail what I want to do with the engine, interior, exterior colours and accessories, audio, electric wiring upgrade... I apologize for the bluntness of the following statement considering your link with the Mini, but people still die in modern cars as well, crash tests are still done at much lower speeds than a real world serious accident and I would personally rather die behind the wheel of a Mini than be saved but become even more disabled behind the wheel of my 2016 daily. Both are very realistic outcomes of a 90km/h crash, except in a Mini I might be small and agile enough to last-second find a way to avoid the faith.
Best DIY car videos I've seen on KZread keep up the good work hope to see some cool DIY on the new mini
Cool car. The new super charged jcw I had was mega fun to drive but I'm sure these older ones are awesome.
I love you guys!!! Everything about all of these cars and decisions... it's just fantastic.
Really great to see classic Minis getting attention and upgrades and stuff. I've had, and loved, my R53 since new (build date 9/03) and want to import a 1995-2000 sometime soon. Gotta have a proper classic Mini with the new gen :D
I found mcm by chance I wanted to put an iPad in my car and found your video. I was hooked since then luv the videos lads keep up the great work
Can't wait to see what's to come! I'm loving these old minis more and more. Have you guys seen Bad Obsession's mini, Project Binky? Celica swapped awd mini MADNESS! it's not finished yet, but they have the entire build so far up on the youtubes, and its phenomenal.
cool seeing you go back to your roots sweet looking mini
Awesome car. I love it. Any car with history wrapped around the personal passion is always a winner. I hope you love every second of it.
Great intro, really informative and fun to watch. Keep up this great videos!
Still waiting for you guys to upload the next video. Waits taking so long, I can'r wait any long.
cant wait to see what you will do with the mini!
I know the feeling, started with a Citroën 2CV, and i still miss that car, well done Moog!
I enjoy seeing Moog being that happy with his car so much, you kind of feel his excitement and it takes you in completely. Huge Mini fan (if the Username didn't state it enough ;D )
Can't wait for the next video about the mini!
I get the feeling of going back to the roots as far as your first car, just bought a z3 which was my first car until I crashed it but when the new one was mine I was literally crying from joy and I haven't cried since I was 12
Starting to respect minis and small cars for their features now watching this Video. Thank you Moog, you have completely changed my whole perspective on classical minis.
I've just bought a classic 1992 Mini and I'm 15, it's for me to learn in and fix up before I can take my test, cannot wait!!!! :)
moog you are my hero for buying a mini knowing what people would think! its a shame all people think about nowadays is who has the bigger engine or the faster car. When really its about the history, the sentimental value and enjoyment of the car you drive. not to mention the fact that modifying a car is all about making cheaper car then a Ferrari drive like one and customising it to your own taste and style. Looking forward to seeing what you do to it man good luck!
cant wait to see this on the track!
Congrats on your new car Moog!
Does anyone remember MCM's very first intro? That really shows how far MCM has come!
Looks mad. Can't wait for more
I drove an Austin Mini for my first car for 2 years. 10 Years on I still own it, Sat in my mates garage while me and my brother restore it. Its been 8 years since I last drove her so i cant wait for her to be finished. Please dont do any stupid mods, although my replica cooper s rally exhaust that my dad had made when he was 18 still sounds great and sets car alarms off as i drive past :)
Mad.... I am so jealous. I miss hooning around in my little old 76 1100 S Mini Clubman, they are such a great little car.
Beautiful x) thank you guys for all the hard work.
I really like the interior! very classy. I learned quite a bit about mini's watching this build.
ok i will admit when you first showed it was a mini i didnt think i would like it. but its starting to grow on me. i too use the swat process just never heard it called it that. im glad your not changing the color cause i love it . good luck on the build ill be watching
That Mini cooper looks amazing it goes really fast on the race track Good job Moog 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
first video I have enjoyed in a while from mcm. that music at the end always reminds me of the late nineties, early two thousands.
Wow, all your camera work looks so professional now :D
Honestly, I wasn't enthused by the addition of a FWD Mini to the MCM universe, but having watched this video I've come to realize that there is a genuine passion and history for Moog with these cars. I'm glad you guys (Marty and Moog) continue to entertain and educate us with these videos, despite the actions of us "fans" (there's no excuse for the harassment you and your families have suffered from people who claim to love the show). I thank you. On a sidenote: is that a Honda CBR600 F3 in the back ground?
