A man in Japan has done what French gourmets thought was impossible.Toshihide Takase, 76, has spent half his life figuring out how to farm a particular species of snails. The species, which is used to make the French delicacy Burgundy escargot, is at risk of extinction and is particularly hard to breed. Can Takase’s home-bred snails rival the taste of snails foraged in the wild?

This is very cool. I hope farmers in France can learn from him. No telling what the climate change will do to the snail population.
His slow and steady perseverance eventually helped him win the breeding race
I THINK THE BACKGROUND MUSIC IS TOO LOW, CAN YOU TURN IT UP A BIT LOUDER?
He's a man of focus, commitment, and sheer will Slow and sure wins the snail race! :)
I tried it, tastes like linguine pasta with the texture of an oyster
There are people very successfully farming Helix Pomata in Europe. As child my grandmother once in a while send me out to forage a bucket full. She fed them a few days on milk. Afterwards they found their doom in a delicious soup or brazed in their shells with garlic butter. Nowadays it is forbidden to forage them in our area. We children played with the snails setting them on top of a wooden fence in one large line or using them for snail races. There were lots of them in our garden.
As a French guy, this man is awesome. I’m grateful for his efforts in favor of quality snails

Hey there, french guy living in Burgundy here. Used to play with those snails in the backyard as a kid, never expected they were considered a delicacy!

Well, Dang----Now we need a follow up to see if the French would prefer these over their home grown ones in a blind taste test. Seriously though? A blind taste test over two variety of snails. :D Which is the better tasting snail? I have had them a few times and each time it just tasted like whatever it was bathing in.
