I lived in Japan during the 1970s, and I have been back more than 20 times since then. What I noticed last year, my first trip in five years, was the lack of scripted programs. It was all talk shows, game shows, and "travel" shows where the stars seemed to concentrate on visiting restaurants and exclaiming "Waa, oishii!" If I lived in Japan again, I wouldn't watch TV either.

man, i wonder how it was feeling to live in Japan during the 70s, isn't that the time of the first tokusatsu boom?

Main stream media in most, to likely, all countries have gone to shit. Seeing it unfold for myself in the US over the years made it evident that it's happening or has happened to other counties as well. I now watch several independent outlets for news coverage. It's also a good idea to fact check and cross reference even those, the truth can be hard to find at times.

Well my family watch KZread and OTT platform more than cable TV Channel, Cable Television has been dead for a long time in my country, it's not surprising it's happening with Japan right now , just like declining of blu ray disc sells in Japan
