    Deep impacts Arima Kinen win is my favourite race to watch of all time. The ground he makes up around the bend on the bridle is amazing. I was broken hearted when he lost the Arc and subsequently disqualified. Absolutely loved this horse

    I've been a horse racing fan for well over 55 year's but I mostly followed American horse racing. Since the 2024 Ky. Derby, when Forever Young finished in a 3 way photo, I started reading up some on Japanese horse racing. I never realized how big horse racing is in Japan, and I didn't have a clue that an American horse, Sunday Silence started it all. Not only on his own, but thru horse's he sired, mainly Deep Impact. Wow, what a horse! I know one thing, I will definitely pay much more attention to horse's from Japan when they come to America to race. The Japanese trainer's are very serious, and determined to excel at horse racing. It's only a matter of time, and short time, when a colt from Japan wins the biggest horse race in America! I didn't use to give them a second look, but from now on, any horse from Japan will automatically be on my short list.

    Interesting the way he was ridden even though always back in the field. Always taken wide coming to the cnr never looking for splits closer to the inside. Those 3 victories were enormous .

    She challenge twice at least, first time in 2005 when Alkaseed Broke the record by winning a nose to Heart's Cry(which will make only Deep Impact defeat in Japan)and she is in 5th , second time in 2006, she was 3rd.

    The trainer asked the jockey not to win big so that Deep Impact would not get hurt. The first two times this was not adhered to, the jockey was sorry. Deep Impact retired in his prime because the owner was afraid he would get hurt. So I don't think he was concerned about the time. But for your information, 2000 meters on grass is 1:58.4 2500meters on grass is 2:31.9 3200meters on grass is 3:13.4 Deep has a bad habit of forgetting the race because he enjoys having anotner horse running next to him. On the day he lost in Japan, Deep Impact forgot the race and did not respond to the whip, the jockey said. The female anchor added, “Deep Impact's neck didn't move at all that day. How could he run in that condition?” She was surprised. The race was then won by a wide margin by Deep Impact over the losing Hearts Cry.

    Nobody knows the horse would really perform before the newcomer maiden, for example, Liberty Island(won Hanshin JF 2022) reach the last 3 furlongs with 31.4 seconds in her newcomer maiden in Niigata.

    @gultekinyildirim No whip, of course! deep-impact20020325.seesaa.net/article/378974694.html 騎手は武豊氏。

    According to his fateful performance in the 2006 Arc, maybe for many European ordinary racegoers, Deep Impact was simply nothing but an overpriced fluke in front of those truly superior European horses --- he may even unable to match their 2nd-rate runners as well. Now I believe he has finally regained some reputation because of the achievement of his progenies racing in Europe, especially, of course, August Rodin, which just won another G1 hours ago.

    He was a good horse but when he came to France in the arc he couldn't beat the best of Europe. What he beat in Japan were not top class group 1 horses he met his match in October 2006. Just the way it is

    Deep Impact had a cough at the time and took cough medicine prescribed by a French veterinarian. This is a drug approved in both Japan and France. Nevertheless, he stopped taking the medicine five days before the race, but after the race, the drug was detected and he was disqualified. The theory was that the drug had probably somehow gotten into the straw, and Deep Impact had eaten it. In Japan, straw is changed every day, but in France it is changed once a week. By this reason among a very small group of Japanese, who still said that Deep Impact won by doping. (Doping has recently been banned in the U.S.) However, the world's horsemen still have faith in him, and not only did the world's best stables breed his mares, and also Queen Elizabeth also sent a mare to be bred by him. His children and grandchildren are still successful. Equinox is also a grandson of his full brother.
