Alex in Japan: Episode 1
My recent trip to Japan was a truly eye-opening experience, as I discovered a whole new level of passion and dedication to the craft of car building alongside having the opportunity to finally engage with the culture and history of the country that has been the source of my inspiration for so many years.
The flight from Vancouver to Seattle was quick, Seattle to Haneda not so much (but the constant supply of Asahi helped). We arrived at the airport and were immediately astounded by Japanese efficiency, after getting through customs and collecting our baggage we were off to a great start and were quickly on our way to pick up our most trusty companion; the Toyota Roomy we rented from Toyota Rent-A-Car.
Our first night in Ota City was a quick one, we checked into our hotel, and connected with Harrison (aka @rennworks_) who would be accompanying myself and Paul on this trip. Afterwards, we explored the neighbourhood and ultimately wound up eating an outrageous amount of plates of food from a conveyer belt sushi restaurant nearby.
The next day we left for Nagoya bright and early and had an impressive amount of shops on the list that we wanted to visit. I won't list everything we did here in this article, you will have to watch the video for that haha.
Overall, my first visit to Nagoya was a truly unforgettable experience. The passion and dedication of the car builders in Japan are truly remarkable, and I can't wait to visit more shops and see more of the fantastic cars being built in this country.
This was just the first of many videos in my series on automotive culture in Japan. Stay tuned for more!

Doesn't get better than this. Glad you guys enjoyed your time in Japan! 🙏
Cannot love this enough! Trip looks amazing and has a feeling alot of the other bigger channels dont have. Honestly akin to Japan in a Van by Juicebox. Think this will be one of my favorites series no matter how long or short it is!

Love your quality of footage. Our local cars here came with a RB30 turbo from factory. They are single cam. Some guys use to bolt the RB25 twin cam heads on them. VL commodore in Australia had the 3 litre. I wish I could have kept mine.
Been watching you for about a month now, so it's truly awesome to hear you're visiting Japan!

Tryna get outta Van for a bit and Japan is #1 priority. Ty for all the pro tips🫡
That was a lot of r31s. The stories those cars could tell man. What a trip!
What do you guys use for finding info for the trip? Is it mostly just online material or from others with personal experience? I'd love to go in a few years but the language barrier is another concern of mine.
@CheckpointJapan
Жыл бұрын
Honestly doing lots of research before hand and having a clear plan for what you want to do helps. We asked a LOT of questions to people who had been before and that helped a ton. The language barrier is hardly an issue, google translate is a great tool and a LOT of people in Tokyo know basic English!
Checkpoint finally in japan! Been a long time coming lol

Always making everything so damn dreamy , Love it!
Such a cool video! I would be freaking out the whole time. You have every right to be stoked. Really good job filming and documenting the trip.

Technical question. What filter are you using? Mist 1/2 ? I love the dreamy look of the footage. Really nice 👍
R31s have always been my fucking favorite idc what anyone says, I always applaud Japanese car guys because like you said at R31 they are legit interested in this stuff so much they put so much passion time blood sweat n tears into this game it shall never die it’s fuckin nuts bless y’all hope you had a wonderful time man I still have yet to see one, well a clean one at least lol I’ve seen only 1 but 32-35 are plentiful in the states believe it or not

love it! Is there a reason the left channel is a tad louder than the right channel? besides that grading, coloring, and music is perfect.
