Problem can be solved much faster from the first simplification by factoring right side into (3 ^ 2) * 37. Then the left and right side conversion to logs is easier. Few chances of error and less time to solve. (3 ^ 2) ^ X = (3 ^ 2) * 37 2X log 3 = 2 log 3 + log 37 divide both sides by 2 log 3 X * (2 log 3)/ (2 log 3) = ((2 log 3)/(2 log 3)) + log 37 / (2 log 3) add results to find final answer. X = 1 + 1.568/0.778 = 2.643
