Quigon Jim thank you! The R is a good Camera, but the handling when filming and also taking pictures is a bit weird and inconvenient. I like the 5d Mark IV more, but the eos r is also a good Camera and the focus is awesome!

Awesome video! Reminds me of my trip to Japan last year. It made me feel like going back! As for the camera/gear, this video reaffirms the fact that the only thing you need to make great imagery is the ability to use the gear you have. And if gear is the emphasis, it would be lenses>body. :)

Some of this footage looks slower than what you can get with 60fps, but it is crystal clear so I don't feel it is just the 120fps at 720p. How are you getting such silky smooth slow motion out of 60fps? This is absolutely incredible.

@Covered in Scarlet Photography I went from the Canon 5d2 as well, if you get the adapter you can still use your canon glass, just auto focus doesn't always work the best but I would rarely use that function anyway as its unpredictable, esp if your shooting weddings, you want a locked off shot, not an auto focus going from the priest to the bride back and forth. I bought a 35mm lens which i use for interviews and anything low light, dancing etc and then i plan to get a adaptor to use all of my wife's nikon lenses. I'd say they both look like great cameras and I went through the same as your going through now, in the end you just have to go with whatever feels right. I went into the store to hold and practice on. Best of luck!

Got my Canon R6 few months back ago and I just have to say that the overheating issue really messes everything up whenever it comes to video shoot. Recently I just got my brand new EOS R (on a limited stock available) and it’s really not bad when it comes to comparison with the R6. But I have to admit the R6 takes much better video quality than the EOS R. So what made me changed my mind to own a EOS R is all about the overheating issue on the R6. What’s best about it is that the EOS R records under H264 with Canon Log and it works well on most computers such as Windows PC during post productions without any lag. Yeah... I don’t owned a Mac. I think it’s worth having the EOS R to do video shoot making it as my A camera than the R6 as my B camera. So to those whom even think about selling their EOS R away, better think it twice.

I keep watching reviews and getting turned off by the insurmountable complaints, but I look at this and think "That looks like art" and that's what I'm looking for

We worked very long on a Lightroom Preset because it's easier for us to colorgrade. and converted it to a LUT using this software... www.johnrellis.com/lightroom/exportlut.htm#download

I just finished watching it ! So much more beautiful than the usual « trendy vacation trip clip ». I want a camera to shoot stills and video.. I wanted a bmpcc 4K but I know I won’t be satisfied since I won’t record videos enough. I decided to take the Eos R + 50mm 1.2. At least pictures will be near perfection, as good as it gets. Next canon optics will be amazing. I hope they ll somehow come up with a pro body that shoot on the full sensor. For now I ll stay in 1080p 60p :) :D Content > quality.

Yes, the Canon EOS R is a great camera, some more fps and it would be perfect. But we're very happy with the results anyway. 50mm 1.2 must be an amazing lens!

This is absolutely stunning. Please talk about your workflow with this amazing mirrorless camera. Did you use C-log, Atomos? What was your post production process like and how did you cultivate a shot list?

Thank you! We have an atomos, but don't like it while traveling. We try to keep it simple. Only standard color mode, no gimbal, stabilization only with premiere. We just put everything into premiere on one track and then watch the whole footage in 25 fps, cutting out the best sequences. Then we cut those sequences that they fit to the beat we've chosen and stitch everything together. After finsihing we just put some black bars on it for a more cinematic feeling and a LUT we created ourselves with that colors we love most on our footage.

It's best camera for fhd video and also about same or better quality then Canon 5D Mark iv. 4K is hell big in size with little improvement on overall image. Just add 10% more sharpness and you gonna have 4K clip.😋😋🤣🤣😂

For me the Canon 5D Mark IV is the best Camera. The EOS R is a good camera, but I like the handling of the Mark IV a lot more. I think it´s just a familiarization, but I'm working most of the time with the Mark IV.
