JAPAN VLOG 🌸 My first time going to Japan - June 2023 🇯🇵

wearethechange.carrd.co/
The long awaited Japan vlog is finally here!!! It took me days to edit this because of sometimes not having enough footage to go over top of my over-talking voiceover LMAO I hope sometimes looking at pictures instead of video footage was ok... I'm trying really hard to start stepping out of my comfort zone and maybe record in places that I'm a little too shy to record in. (Like small crowded stores for example) As I mentioned in the video, I'm going back to Japan in September with my friend to see NCT in concert so I promise I will try to film as much as I can for an awesome vlog video :D

I’m glad you had a good time! I find that as long as you’re polite and making an effort, most people in japan are endlessly kind. I lived in a city where I typically ran into other foreigners once a week max, so I was used to being the only foreigner around most of the time while I was there. And for the temple (Asakusa), that wasn’t actually a gift shop - it’s the temple store. Those are all omamori and other good luck charms and other Buddhist items. It’s normal for tourists to buy them and it doesn’t offend anyone at all when they do, but it’s not really just a momento. I own a bunch of omamori as well for good luck while traveling for example 😂

i’m definitely not surprised cause i kinda knew it was just the temple store after realizing what each bracelet meant but for some reason i defaulted to calling it the gift shop hahaha thank you so much!! 😊

Glad you had a great time in Japan! Looking forward to your Korea vlog! FYI, Koreans generally stare a lot at foreigners 🫤. Please don’t think it is because of something you did 🥺

of course!! i have a somewhat extreme case of social anxiety so i always think the worst of situations when it’s most likely not the case and i’m trying really hard to work on that and not care so much about what others think of me 😊

I really feel you in the social anxiety department. When I went to Korea, I felt like I missed out on a lot because I was too scared to talk to anyone with the language barrier TT When you go back to Japan in Sept, I recommend checking out Shin-Okubo (Korea town) in Tokyo. When there's a Kpop concert going on, all the shops there tend to play that group's music and videos, so you'll probably see a lot of NCT!

Nice. This got me even more excited for my first trip in the fall. I got more ideas for places to visit. Also gotta try the iced matcha latte! Great tip about the filming. Actually I do not take much video but I take thousands of photos LOL so I will be more careful.

Looks like you had an amazing time. The 7-11 food is so good ... I would just live off the onigiri, pan, and green tea. And what luck with BrightWin. When I was in Japan in January, I found out the day before that FirstKhaotung were doing a fan meet was able to find someone selling a ticket at the door. (I believe I heard you say once that you had BL channel. Could you let me know what it is? Would love to follow you on there too.) Can't wait to see about your time in Korea.

That large store in Osaka is a part of the Don Quixote (Donki for short) national chain stores in Japan. They’re the kind of stores that buy overstock/salvage from other stores, IIRC. Most aren’t as big as that one, hence the Mega in the name. Also the bigger cities, especially Tokyo, are used to foreigners which is why you wouldn’t attract much attention. Tokyo is also very tourist friendly so you can get by easily with just English. Also just a heads up, but the stadium you’re going to is kinda out there without much around it. I went there in 2009 for a-nation and the train station was so packed after the concert ended. I ended spending some time browsing a nearby 7-11 waiting for the crowds to die down a bit before trying to catch a train back.
