Japan trip 2007 (on VHS)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Back in 2007, before I moved to Japan, I worked for a car magazine in Australia that also made DVDs. This is an edit of a trip I made to Japan that never made it to a published DVD. The idea was to buy a car and drift it at a few different tracks and also visit workshops. It was originally meant to have voiceovers and music, but since I'm missing a few tapes-worth of footage, because I left the company almost immediately after this trip and never had a chance to make the final video, I thought I'd just edit up what I had and put it up here for posterity. You can see the other footage from Ebisu Circuit on this video: • ORIGINAL Japan drift v...

I love these kinds of videos. Only 13 years ago but it already feels like a snapshot of a different time.

2007 was one of my best years. My father bought an import stock silvia s15 spec R with Aero package. It was actualy the first s15 in our country and the first on Balkan Peninsula. We still have it to this day. We were curios from what region it came from and we found that it was from Yamanashi. Me and my father still laugh and say - hey its from Fuji😃
If this is actually VHS that's a damn good transfer.

either DV or HDV tape, looks too digital for it to be analog lol also it's not correctly deinterlaced *unless it was shot on progressive* so it should be 50/60fps not 25/30

Yeah, still kicking myself i didnt get a loan and buy the one i used to see picking his cousin up from after school care on my way home from work... It had no rust, but was faded blue, had trd suspension and a 7age that was getting a bit tired. I thought at the time "if i wait till it blows up i might get it for 3 grand" two years later theyre all 8 grand, now they are absolutely insane, rough as hell, poor quality repairs and more expensive than r32 gtrs were in 2009.

100% wish there was a really, really faint "noriyaro2" slapped across the entire footage. Faint enough you forget it's there until you go looking for it!
within just a decade so much has change in drifting nice that your able to either scavenge these or preserve and better yet able to transfer to digital
Can we talk about how Alexi was insanely good 14 years ago. That attack angle is nuts. I see a lot of locals being much more conservative than him.
I love these old VHS Japanese videos related to drifting and stuff like that, I've got an entire playlist dedicated to putting a lot of that 80's/90's VHS drifting stuff in a big playlist so check it out if you like this sort of thing. I don't own anything on there but I feel like the VHS stuff is definitely very cool and I love seeing it.

Back when "old rust buckets" were affordable, everything was still raw, pure and fun... Everybody was doing their thing just for fun or because it was their passion, also it was fun to take a look at others build and enjoy what they've done, because it meant dedication, time and a lot of money invested, unlike today that everyone wants just to modify just to be an "IG pop-star", a dyno sheet with XXXX HP and 0 or almost 0 driving skills...
Take a shot every time Alexi says "ay"
YES ANOTHER ONE OF THESE! I love this kind of old hidden content!
The first DVD that sparked my excitement for Japan was one of the HPI Japan trips. Have literally no idea what volume but went to a private day with Tezuka.
END OF THE GOLDEN ERA jesus christ all these cars are perfect in style.
At first you might think this is a normal roriyaro video untill Yung alexi pops on screen
So good.

Notice here, how the cars from this era were simple styling, and they had nice paint work too. 2000s era styling is my favourite drift style.

These are the type of videos that got me into drifting!. Super simple setups that were fun.
