Japan Travel | Shinhotaka Ropeway + Okuhida | Mountains, snow and ryokan stay

Our adventure continues! We leave Hida Takayama for Okuhida to visit the Shinhotaka Ropeway and to stay in a ryokan with natural onsen. Okuhida is famous for its onsen towns, and we found an old yet very charming ryokan in the Shinhotakaonsen Guchi stop called Kazeya. As always, the food is amazing!
The Shinhotaka Ropeway is a great experience and well-worth a daytrip, if not more, from Takayama. The views are impressive and we're happy to experience it with a light early winter snow.
Thank you for watching this video, and I am inviting you to watch our other videos featuring our recent trip to Japan. Go to our channel and you'll find videos on our adventures to Kiso Valley for the Nakasendo, HIda Takayama, and our daytrip to Shirakawago.
As always, would appreciate the usual lot of liking, subscribing, and sharing away these videos. Maraming salamat!

Hi nice video! Thanks for sharing. May I check which time in Dec were you there? We are planning to be there in first week of Dec and as we are a party of 6 we are planning to drive. Hope that the roads are not too snowy or icy. Will you be able to advice? Thanks so much.

Hi! Thanks for watching! We were there on the first week of December, and the roads from Takayama to Shinhotaka/Okuhida onsengo were so far clear. It only snowed in the mountains :-) I believe it gets heavy at the height of winter, perhaps starting on the 3rd or 4th week of December. Still best to check out the weather forecast :-) I hope you’ll have an amazing trip!

Hi there! Do these Nohi buses that go from takayama to shinhotaka accept IC card? or you have to purchase the ticket?

Hello, and thanks for watching! I think you need to purchase tickets at the bus station if you’re coming from Takayama. We rarely used IC cards around the rural areas, even for vendo machines. I hope this helps!
