I love watching as they expose the grain of the wood . There are a lot of posts showing this . When are we going to the next step showing the triming of the board ?

They are used to make laminates. The cost of the wood is such that every Yen possible has to be extracted.

@@danielburgess7785 Hello there Daniel. Could you please explain what you call "laminates"? The boards sawn here appear to be about 35mm in thickness. How do you propose they would make laminates out of this thickness? Surely the beauty of the grain would make it desirable for fine cabinet work. The Japanese appreciate solid timber.

@@musamor75 They are used to make veneers. The cuts are about 7cm to 8cm thick (got those numbers from the gentleman who posts these videos) so they can be finely sawed/planed to 5mm to 7mm thick. Using veneer wood makes the most profit per log. Considering that they are importing wood from around the world, and huge logs to boot, they have to maximize the $ (or Yen) return at every step. A skilled wood worker can apply veneers so well that you'd have to be an expert to detect it. Solid exotic timber is out of the price range of all but the most wealthy.
