Planning to visit miyakojima mid March to make sure I can swim in the sea ;)

Nice! I went to the main island in Okinawa in the winter years ago, and despite a lot of cloudy weather I really enjoyed it. I'm thinking of visiting Ishigaki this winter.

for a whole month i've looked at the live camera's for naha and miyako and ishigaki and the weather always seems better on miyako and ishigaki. Thats for the month of may in 2022. It will be pouring rain in naha and only a little cloudy further south. Maybe its something only this year? If its that way every year, i'de say the weather is better there in winter and summer

Yes, it happened several times to me that Miyako is sunny even when Naha is raining. It looked like it was raining all the time in Okinawa this May. Usually Okinawa's rainy season is from mid May to late June, but it started early this year. The best season is said that later April or July before typhoon season starts, but it's just possibility. In my experience, sometimes it's sunny even if the weather app says it's raining where I am, sometimes beach is sunny when Naha is raining. It's difficult to predict the weather in Okinawa, while the weather is so important for Okinawa trip. :(

Which is more fun ishigaki or miyako?

Turquoise or Tiffany blue. Thank you for providing the name of the hotel. Do you think it will be difficult to enjoy the island without a car? Are taxis common on the island?

I think it will be much easier with a car, but if you are staying at a big resort like Tokyu Resort or Hilton, you can just spend time in the hotel once you get there. From Miyakojima airport, Tokyu has shuttle bus.

Can you snorkel in early December? I read one website which says that snorkelling shops provide wet suits. But I am unsure how warm those can keep you in winter

I didn't take any snorkelling tour in this trip but I read that you can do snorkeling all around the year in Miyakojima. If you have wet suites, you don't really feel the temparature of cold water.

Hello. The water is not warm enough during winter, probably not a good season for bathing at the beach from December to March.

Wasn't that cold this day. And water was warm. I'm not good at cold water (like I never go in to cold bath after sauna) but I could go in easily. Usually, it might be a little too cold in winter.
