Song is Shiki no Uta
First one is 호떡 - a stuffed pancake that originates from China 김밥 - gimbap, basically korean sushi as he said 양념치킨 - yangnyeom chicken 칠성사이다 - 7-star cider 지짐이 - this really just means fried-food, but its used to refer to pancakes sometimes 아이스크림 - ice cream jist written in korean lol

And closer japanese readings would be roughly ほっどぐ(without the u at the end and ど being closer to duh sound in engish) キンバブ (without the u at the end) ヤンニョム(without the u at the with ン being more from the back of your through and ョ being more like yuh sound in english) シンソン i believe (with ソン being closer to sung in english) And チジミ i think if it helps with pronouncations at all

Well I mean he really only spent $13.94 USD because the 5000 JPY he added that he gave to the bird was a joke. I don’t think most visitors have to pay the extra $35 pigeon extortion fee. They just pay for the food.

Lol it’s funny listening to this when you’re more familiar with korean than japanese. the pronunciations are SO CLOSE but still so far 😂 btw the foods shown in order were hotteok, kimbap/gimbap, yangnyeom chicken, chilsung, buchimgae/buchim…and ice cream!

Kimbap is sort of like sushi, yes, but there is a huge difference in the food culture. I always say that Kimbap is more like a Korean analogue of the western sandwich: very casual, made of simple ingredients, cheap and easy to grab on the go.

In Korean and romanization for ya’ll 호떡 Hotteok (usually made with honey and nuts but cheese can be a alternative) 김밥 Gimbab (translates to seaweed and rice) 양념 치킨 Yangnyeom Chicken (Sweet and spicy sauce, Koreans favorite) 칠성사이다 Chilsung Cider (it’s better then sprite) 부침개 Buchimgae (Korean pancake alternative name could be 지지미 Jijimi) 아이스크림 Ice cream (Koreans don’t have a word for this it’s just Konglish)
Kimbap (Kimpa) is one of my favorite Korean foods! My childhood friend would invite me to her family birthday parties and her grandmother would always handmake it. Super nostalgic. ♡

To tag on if it helps. Kim means seaweed. Bap means rice. Hence, kimbap. When I was a kid, this was a staple for any day trip or outing. Picnic, field trips, etc. It's so portable and tasty.
I love korean food but its extremely expensive in the US... Kimbap is like, $15 at all the restaurants in my town& kinchi pancakes are about $10
@martinatoth327

It's also very likely due to imported ingredients results pricier Korean food. Plus US rent, staff, hydro, gas, electricity and etc are huge contributions to final price.
@kantaria1138

It’s never going to be as cheap as it would be in Korea but it’s much cheaper if you go to a Korean mart and they make it in house, instead of going to a restaurant. But in general prices in the US are out of control due to corporate greed. Same or even smaller portions of food for less service and a higher price.

When I was a kid, my dad brought some Korean soda home from a trip to Korea when he was in the Army. I drank the Chilseng(sp?) and would also only be able to describe it as better Sprite. I still have a can each of Korean Coca Cola and Orange Fanta. The cans are probably 30 years old by now.

You had hotteok (hoh-tok), kimbap (gkim-bop), the chicken is pronounced the same in Korean, Chilsung Cider and then some type of jeon (jon). It’s so interesting how similar the names are in Korean and Japanese!
@simp1ysa1ty
10 ай бұрын
Its because the japanese name the items phonetically based on the korean pronunciations as closely as possible. For example, Tteokbokki (떡볶이) in japanese is トッポギ (toppogi). Phonetically they are very close but not quite the same, and thats really just the limitations of Katakana, which is the writing system used for most borrowed words with the exception of chinese characters (a lot of kanji can be traced back to traditional chinese characters).
hyped for koreaeats vid on japantown
