I liked how when the topic was music and they were insulting him (calling him monkey brain, goldfish brain, etc...) he just laughed it off and took in stride, and when the subject changed to voice acting and he clearly knew way more about it (being an actual proffesional), he never insulted them and just casually schooled them.

This is Legit me and my friends when were playing games and talking shit, I'd take there insults and then just calmly explain or try to change the subject towards something else. I know they're friends and they all joke around with each other. But I couldn't help but feel a little bad sometimes when they would bash on Connor for his opinions, or just the perspective he might of had in some cases. I'm just glad Connor doesn't take much to heart, at least on the surface, if anything he acts pretty mature towards "criticism". Might not be "big brain" with certain things but he is definitely knowledgeable on many other topics and I rarely see him act any higher or put anyone else down. I mean even with his amazing Chess story, he was obviously gifted but kept humble throughout. Either way, if Connor isn't actually feeling mistreated or anything of the sort I suppose we can keep laughing together and still enjoy their random debates.

As a person who studies the physiology of the human brain, I can declare with full responsibility: it's not Connor's fault. For many people this isn't obvious, but all humans from birth have a slightly different brain structure. So the fields in the brain responsible for processing sound or images may be slightly larger or smaller in someone and have a different number of neurons. So it’s mostly impossible for some people, like Connor, to perceive music as others do. That is why different people always do something better or worse than others. It isn’t good or bad, this is what nature gave us from birth. Unfortunately, not everyone understands this and exposes people who differ from them to ridicule and bullying.

I somewhat enjoyed how he portrayed some of the characters' struggles. My father came from and grew up in war and had ended up losing both his mother and father as a result. I used to ask him a lot about his experiences and eventually asked him it was hard losing them. In response, he said to me that, at the time, he wasn't sad because he couldn't afford to be. He was still a child living in a developing country and had to focus on taking care of his sisters- where to find food, shelter, etc. It was only until years later where he, in his words, was able to "afford" to go through such emotions.

I can relate with conner on the soundtrack part. when I'm watching a good movie or an anime I rarely notice the sound track. the sound tracks effects my mood or emotions subconsciously but my conscious brain doesn't register it.. unless the soundtrack is very unique. I'd say Cowboy be soundtrack is unique. also it's meme how fire Hans Zimmer soundtrack in interstellar was (and his soundtracks in general.) Honestly when I watched Interstellar I didn't notice his soundtrack at all. after seeing the memes I checked out his tracks and they're fucking fire but when watching the movie my conscious brain just doesn't register it.

Kind of the same with me but I take notice of the music if it’s really good _and_ if it’s used as a deliberate musical cue. I can think of so many scenes where someone has this emotional stare off to the distance or where there’s something just waiting to answer the suspense and the music is purposely going ham.

I understand both Connor and Joey/Garnt's perspective on music. When i played the first TLOU, and heard the soundtrack after i finished it, i could feel just as emotional as i was while playing ir. But also it also happened to me that I couldn't remember some soundtracks of some shows unless i rewatch them or if they were a really long series that doesn't change the music that much. I should definitely try to pay more attention to music since it really is an enhancer to the watching experience of this media.

I think the issue that Connor is having here is that he is discussing watching anime with Gigguk and Joey; those two guys really care about anime and will find reasons for why they liked certain things that they enjoy watching and talk about it or make videos on (i.e. - translation: big anime lovers; which is fine). You can enjoy anime or any show without having to know what song is being played or who composed it. If you do then more power to you but I feel like Connor fits the more mainstream audience of liking anime rather than the "otaku" mindset of liking anime.

So when Connor talks about how he interprets voice acting and what he considers in a voice acting performance it really parallels to how musicians have to interpret music while playing, for example when you’re given a sheet of music you have to interpret the way the writer intended with the articulation and indication on the score. I just kinda found the parallel fascinating since he says he doesn’t quite understand music in that way but it’s so similar in that field ig

yup same here. To an extent I can relate to him by not remembering anime directors, composers or writers and some characters in anime and just enjoying it but I have grown an interest of the people who make the craft later on but still though I like how he isn't like joey or garnt who knows like everything about the directors, writers, composers and mangakas and just enjoys watching anime without being a wikipedia.

I agree 100%. Even when he's being made fun of for whatever, he brushes it off or laughs with them about it. Or how other times he would admit when he is wrong or admit to his unpopular behaviors, opinions, etc. He's straight up, sticks to his thoughts, yet is still open-minded and respects more or less everyone else's opinions. He might not excel in some topics or even care to be the star of the show in moments.. but he definitely has shown his intelligence in many other aspects, including in the way he speaks. In the end I'm sure most of what is being said are all light jokes they exchange for entertainment purposes and simply because that's what friends do sometimes. I like the contrast.

I relate to Connor a lot here. I remember openings because there is nothing else to really pay attention to and the visuals are often synchronized with the music. You can't ignore it. When there is dialog and visuals and action, I can only really pay attention to so much. If the music is good it enhances what I'm feeling without it standing out and I can pay attention to the other stuff. And yeah.
