🇯🇵 JAPAN City of WILD Deer 🦌 NARA (奈良)

Japan has a city full of wild Deer that can even bow! 🦌 NARA (奈良) . The wild Deer roam the streets of Nara city and the parks interacting with all the tourists that come from across Japan & the world. Bowing whenever they see a person that has something that they want. Usually a tasty treat. Our daughter Story was so happy to get to see the beautiful animals in 奈良 and even get close enough to stroke them. We also watched a traditional Japanese music show and watched the sunset over the city.

I‘m a citizen of Nara. ☺️ Thank you for introducing me to my favorite scenery from the top of Mt. Wakakusa and my friends, the deer🦌. 👍 Did your cute little girl like the deer🦌🥰? By the way, the cityscape that spreads out below is where the current city was built on the site where Japan’s capital was located in the ancient 8th century (AD 710-784). And Todaiji Temple (a large Buddhist temple visible at 10:28), which can be seen at the foot of the mountain, has existed in this location since then. In addition, the ruins of the royal palace at that time (= Heijo Palace ruins) have been excavated and preserved as a vast historical park. (Restoration work is being carried out on the central building where the Emperor of Japan conducted political affairs and some of the gates.) Furthermore, at 8:00 in the video, they are climbing an old keyhole-shaped tumulus (shaped like a keyhole) on the mountaintop, and from there to the north is Kyoto, which became the capital of Japan after Nara. It is possible to see the city in the distance. (This is exactly the direction shown in the video at 8:43.) ☺️ Finally, in just a few hours, the New Year of 2024 will arrive, so I would like to congratulate you and your family on the start of the new year. 🌅🎍🧧🎇 Thank you very much. 🤗🍀

Hi, thank you for your reply. ❣️ I'm so happy that your daughter likes the deer🦌. 🥰 The deer in Nara are so accustomed to people that they look like they are kept by someone, but in reality they are all wild deer. During the day they are in parks, but at night they rest in forests and mountains. And the deer at the top of Mt. Wakakusa know me by sight, so they always approach me thinking they can get an acorn from me. They are my friends who are very docile and get used to people. 😅 Finally, if you have another chance, please come to Nara with us. And next time, I think spring is the best time to go when the cherry blossoms 🌸 bloom. Well, I hope you and your families are doing well. ❤️🤗🍀

Japan's original country name NIPPON means "country under the sun," but the traditional name of the country when the capital was here in Nara was YAMATO (WA). YAMATO means "land of great harmony between people and nature." For about 1,300 years since the Emperor established the capital of Japan in Nara, deer have been traditionally cherished as messengers of the sacred gods of this island nation blessed with nature, until the present day. Deer do not live in Nara Park all day, nor do they appear to be kept in captivity. They are wild deer. At night, the deer return to the mountains to sleep. During the day, they come down to the park to feed and relax. Their daily rotation seems to be like that. They are regarded as sacred animals, messengers of the gods, because of a legend that when one of the four gods enshrined at Kasuga Taisya Shrine moved from the shrine in Ibaraki Prefecture to the land of Yamato (NARA), the deer protected and led the god along the way and brought him to this place. For 1,300 years, people have been told not to bully the deer, the messengers of the gods. The deer know that humans think so from generation to generation, so even though the city has changed its appearance, the deer still feel safe and comfortable living here with people. The history of Japan is very old, about 2,000 years since the Emperor's reign, but humans began to live in villages and communities in this island nation about 14,000 years ago, during “the JOMON pottery” culture. (That's 30,000 years ago, if you count the Neolithic period.) Surrounded on all sides by the sea and geographically isolated from the Eurasian continent in the Pacific Ocean, this island nation has a warm and humid climate and is blessed with abundant underground clear water resources, diverse vegetation, and fishery resources. For this reason, people have lived here for tens of thousands of years, enjoying nature and living in peace with it. However, while the natural environment of this island nation is rich, it is also harsh, with both light and dark sides. Since ancient times, the people of this land have lived in peace by respecting human harmony and working together as a group, and have shared and enjoyed the blessings of nature by overcoming many harsh and severe natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and typhoons by sharing wisdom and working together as a group. This is because this island nation has a harsh natural environment that cannot be overcome by the power of one individual. The ancient Japanese name of the country, "YAMATO (DAI-WA)" or "WA" (great harmony between people and nature)、 represents the desire and reality of people trying to survive in the unique natural environment of an island nation, which is different from the dry and stable land of the Eurasian continent. And it is in this ancient Japanese country name that the essence of Japanese culture and the source and secret of the emergence of a unique Japanese culture different from the cultures of other Asian countries on the continent are hidden.
