People underestimate Japan because of their height. But look at how much they improved in volleyball, a sport where height is a bigger factor than in football. They make up for their height disadvantage with their other traits. No wonder they beat Spain, Germany and went to pens in this world cup. And also had a really close call against prime Belgium in the last world cup

Poor Ter Stegen. First 2 goals against him were very good passes into a very well placed hard to stop shot. The last 2 were basically the defence succumbing under Japan's High Pressing, with the last one being a 2 v 1 scenario

I honestly expected Japan to win but not like this they could’ve got 7-8 goals easily people are sleeping on them they have a fantastic squad and not even peaked yet next World Cup they’ll be a problem I mean they lost to Croatia in penalties at World Cup and didn’t have their best 2-3 players in aswell

If Germany were to defeat Japan in baseball, it is definitely a giant killing. However, even if Japan beats Germany in soccer, it is not a giant killing.

I wanna say 'Thanks Germany' Coz many Japanese are playing football in Bundesliga , Their skills improved.

4 wins in 17 games. This is unacceptable. Löw cant fix this team, Flick cant fix this team. At what point will the management realize that the problem lies in the lack of any chemistry between the players? Starting bums like Havertz at striker when a perfectly capable and proven striker like Füllkrug rots on the bench. Better pray that France and Mbappe doesnt skin this team or else we're gonna be looking at a very bleak Euros.

For the third conceded goal, wasn't Rudiger positioned too high? The triangle formed by the three defenders became too small. With Japan's forwards and midfielders contained within this tight triangle, it made it easy for passes to be intercepted.

seeing how rudiger was just walking back for the 3rd goal - this is a team who does not care for their nation nor sacrifice for their colours.

Japan was one team. Football is a team sport, and no matter how big team Germany is, Japan, which longed for win, played better. They were more determined to win and their strategy hit the mark. Congratulations, Japan. You deserved to win the match. I am from South Korea. Some people don't seem to be happy with our rival team Japan getting good results, but I don't think it's a very good attitude. Well, I really hope the day will come sooner when worlds football fans from other continents no longer look down Asian football!

Japan showed that they can go toe-to-toe with anyone. I get it. Germany were awful defensively but putting 4 goals against Ter Stegen and Rudiger and Germany is still hard to do especially when you aren't a top 10 team like Spain or France. Since the 2018 World Cup, Japan have beaten the likes of Uruguay, Germany (2x), and Spain and narrowly lost to teams like Brazil and Croatia. They are leading the way for football in the most populous part of the world and other teams are following suite such as South Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. It's only a matter of time until all 5 of those teams go toe-to-toe with European sides.

Japan is really progressing a lot.. they beat both Spain and Germany in WorldCup and even almost beat Croatia, Japan were the better team in that match with more attacking and more chances created and better passes also with their energy if they were given 5more minutes they would have win.. they lack experience then Croatia that’s y they lost in penalty.
