But brahman is Beyond space and time and not limited by it, any kind of form would be limited and thus not the brahman. Then why to chant the name of that deity who is bounded by its name and form, how can that help us in any manner? Please give me an answer.

Because in the very beggining it is very difficult for anybody to think god which has no form beyond space time that is why ishta devta (chosen deity) is very much needed to go beyond and merge with Brahman and how can you say? that god is only formless. According to the vedas upanishads bhagawat geeta it has been said that god has both form and formless. I will suggest you to search within yourself the entire mystery of universe do not forget that you are also the physical manifestation of that brahman (formless god) you cannot tie him up in the identity of formless. It is beyond everything , cannot be proven but can be realised so search within yourself know yourself ask the question who am I? beyond your body and physical identity

But ky friend. Bhakti is also beautiful even if it seems irrational. Just do kirtan of krishn or your istdev, you will feel positivity. Watch premanamd ji maharaj.
