You should get some sponsorship from the manufacturer of that kit; that is a better job of marketing the product than anyone could create. At least you should put out word that you are willing to try out and review truck and trailer related products. As always I enjoy someone else working and explaining what they are doing. I've never worked on something that large, but appreciate the skill and knowledge. I would bet truck/trailer mechanics watch your channel. So many people on You Tube don't know what they are talking about. You have knowledge based on practical working knowledge. Been having some real wide swings in temperature and weather down here in Central Texas. Tell more stories! I saw the orange cat in your videos. You might think about getting some of these big rubber stall pads used with some livestock to lay down when you are working; they interlock and would help insulate you from the cold and the dirt. They are made from recycled tires and are available at most ranch supply stores.✔👍

I get contacted by companies all the time but I don’t really like that idea because they want you to sign contracts on what you’re going to say and such. I like to be able to speak my mind. I’m thinking about working with a company when I overhaul my own truck though, it’s a company I have dealt with in the past and they are very good at what they do

That is really neat Larry! I never knew how semi trailer brakes worked. I was behind a semi the other day and his trailer brakes kept locking up. Seemed like the lightest braking would cause his wheels to lock up. What do you think was causing that? It kind of freaked me out because I thought he was having to brake real hard because of traffic.

You may have been behind an Owner/Operator that did not own the trailer and was applying the trailer brakes to save wear on the tractor brakes.

why don't pickup trucks and such have air breaks instead of hydraulic? I think i spelled that right
@midnightrider1521

It would be too costly and not necessary. Air BRAKES require an air compressor and air dryer also.

@keepupwithspeedy

i wonder if it would be possible to convert a pickup to air breaks if one really wanted to. and if he did, would their be a significant difference? just curious. one day I would like to convert a pickup truck into a mini big rig. so no you see whrer I am going with that. keep it authentic.
@midnightrider1521
5 жыл бұрын
Anything is possible if you have deep pockets, ingenuity and engineering expertise. In addition to the compressor and dryer, you would need the individual wheel cylinders, S-cams to actuate the brake shoes, air lines, and brackets to mount those items. They would probably have to be custom made and have to be engineered for a vehicle that weighs much less than a tractor trailer. Good Luck!!
@keepupwithspeedy

I get contacted by companies all the time but I don’t really like that idea because they want you to sign contracts on what you’re going to say and such. I like to be able to speak my mind. I’m thinking about working with a company when I overhaul my own truck though, it’s a company I have dealt with in the past and they are very good at what they do
I’m impressed your talented!

I need to replace a tube, I'm guessing it's going to take me longer than 20min after brakes are off...lol
@midnightrider1521

You may have been behind an Owner/Operator that did not own the trailer and was applying the trailer brakes to save wear on the tractor brakes.
@LongHaulLarry

If he was empty and you apply the brakes they will lock up specially if he didn’t have ABS on the trailer

why don't pickup trucks and such have air breaks instead of hydraulic? I think i spelled that right
@midnightrider1521
5 жыл бұрын
It would be too costly and not necessary. Air BRAKES require an air compressor and air dryer also.
@keepupwithspeedy

i see. interesting thank you
@keepupwithspeedy

i wonder if it would be possible to convert a pickup to air breaks if one really wanted to. and if he did, would their be a significant difference? just curious. one day I would like to convert a pickup truck into a mini big rig. so no you see whrer I am going with that. keep it authentic.
@midnightrider1521
Good Luck!!
@keepupwithspeedy
5 жыл бұрын
hmmmm. maybe i'd just make it seem like air breaks. sounds much cheaper lol

That is not a fix bud! Those tubes should not slide in or out. It needs to have extreme came tubes installed. Horrible video
@LongHaulLarry

In some older trailers and different brands yes the tubes stay in and you replace the bushings, in this model 4 bolts and you replace the whole tube. So don’t know how it’s a horrible video, done to own procedures
