I've watched this Sermon, every morning (for the last week) to start my day off at work. This sermon is powerful and my goal is to LIVE it and to stop hearing it. The biblical ideal of an "excellent spirit" will begin to permeate through every aspect of my personal and professional life.

I would move to USA only to be able to attend ASBC. Pastor Wesley is an amazing preacher/pastor. I just keep watching the VOD over and over for the last three years since I was introduced to this church on line.

This sermon changed me immediately. Since watching it, I have shared it with everyone I could think of (and they have been blown away, too) and every morning, I pray that God would give me "a spirit of excellence". (2 weeks into my new practices, thank GOD.)

This is the very first sermon by Pastor Wesley where I find a different perspective or a bit of contradiction. There are some people that are persecuted for having an excellent spirit. I just spoke with two examples in my life not including myself, today. Excellence of spirit has a price and Jesus paid it all but that persecution still lives. You can absolutely have a spirit of excellence and be laid off from your job and be in a situation that makes you look like a loser. To have an excellent spirit, a Christ follower must have courage, willingness, steadfastness to walk in that power and see it through no matter when or if persecution should happen. An excellent spirit sees expectation in God no matter what else is going on around him/her. "Entitlement is threatened by an excellent spirit."

Daniel's excellent spirit found him tossed into the lions den. The benefit of the excellent spirit was that he did not find himself in the lions den alone. His accusers also ended up in the lions den, however they did not enjoy the same protections that Daniel's excellent spirit afforded him... interesting conclusion to this passage in Daniel 6.

Daya I felt the same as you in regards to having a excellent spirit but can still get laid off because maybe getting laid off is the blessing. I love pastor Wesley sermons also and I pray our Lord will continue to guide him and speak through him.
