(Janine Jansen | 2015 | Live) Poulenc: Sonata for Violin & Piano, FP 119
Музыка
A violinist for a change. I'm a complete pianohead myself and if you gave me a violin I'd install hammers on it, but I attended this program myself following a recommendation from a friend who is as attuned to the violin world as that of the piano. This was the opening work on the program, and already by the end of the second movement I had completely melted in my seat... Aside from Sokolov who always comes and destroys things for other musicians it turned out to be the highlight of the entire season. And thanks to an American friend with multi-billion dollar recording equipment, fortunately recorded at that!

00:00 - I. Allegro con fuoco
07:15 - II. Intermezzo
13:49 - III. Presto tragico
Janine Jansen, violin / Alexander Gavrylyuk, piano

Sehr schön
There is also and amazing recording by Patricia kopatchinskaja that every actually need to check it out
The painting at 00:01 is 'Mont Saint Victoire at night'
I need to talk to your friend! The quality is insane from what must have been a clandestine (and hence, very small) device.
What did they use to record this, it's fantastic? I am very fond of this sonata, one of the first chamber pieces I've played, if not the first. It a collage of pretty much everything, extremely fun to play.
I so much would love to read your impressions of the first concert you will or have attended since the ... you-know-what ... has put a hold to music/danse/theatre/art world (I myself am still in grief and am happy to be introduced to every good concert on YT).

I'm looking forward to it lots too. I hope the season will begin as usual in October, but if it doesn't.... it's probably for the best.
