First of all the gay community have been knowing Janet mark for a long time a lot of gay people have been contributing to Hollywood but never get credit because the heterosexuals walked off with the money that's what she was insinuating. Just like you was standing up to yourself being a black woman she was standing up to herself in a black transgender woman so why is it the problem now. Not trying to start a fight but. Janet Mark has written several books so she's known mostly in the white community cuz the white community usually take time to learn about transgenders of color than their own people. Stop pretending that you love us because you know you don't. I'm just saying. And we will be all right.

@@deaconlyric I’m very aware as I work in Film & TV for a living. She is definitely making above scale, however it must be factored in the show only lasted 3 Seasons. Most contracts get renegotiated after season 2 if it’s a hit. But again a show with such a unexpected short run (partially due to COVID according to MJ Rodriguez) it wasn’t a lot of room for these big re-ups. But I’m sure there’s more to the story

Vivica and Lisaraye you two need to stop cutting Syleena off while she's speaking. She is a woman of wisdom and is always exalting y'all, so show her more respect.

Well Janet signed that 40,000 dollar an episode contract maybe she needs a better agent. In this world of social media people feel like they have to expose ALL their business. If Janet is cheating keep in quiet, who needs to know?

Janet has the right to speak about it. She probably was played by the network. She was pushed and used to validate the show because it was getting backlash when the rumors of Ryan Murphy developing the show.

Each cast member from “Friends” received $1M per episode. Janet Mock was given an opportunity to write, direct, produce “Pose” $40k per episode. The show is ending after 3 seasons, if they are pleased with her work, she be compensated accordingly. Underpaying a POC/women, sadly is a common practice in the USA 🇺🇸 They should teach our kids a worthy skill like how to negotiate - Don’t just ask for $12/hr then find out everybody in your position is making $22/hr Ask “How much is the job paying? Company paying for the position? Or What’s the budget/salary range for the position?

Vivica was already a household name when she made Kill Bill. I didn’t know any of them before Pose.

Billy Porter was known before Pose but Pose made him more of a household name. He was mostly known for Broadway

I don't think these women are familiar with Janet Mock. She is highly accomplished having been a former staff editor for People Magazine and involved with countless other productions including Netflix's Disclosure. She is also one of the biggest representatives of the trans community. I don't think much research or awareness is evident in these responses.

Oh Janet....not the time, the place or the proper way to complain :/ These people need to stop listing to Monique and learn how to move in the industry. Its the same in life in general. And its not being fake, its the same in every corner in life, but work is not the same as social life. She should have had her agent address these things moving fwd. And it was her first acting gig, everyone has to prove themselves in the beginning. I hope she hasnt ruined her career before it even got started.

What does Monique have to do with this? It's not her first gig by far lol. And everyone doesn't have to " prove " themselves. It's called racially and or gender inequality. White executives start making over 100k coming in the door. The woman directs produces and acts on the show. The behind the scenes drama has been fx hasn't been wanting to pay people their worth and fx refusing to properly promote the show because it's trans which has caused alot of issues including the show getting cancelled.

This isn’t the reason it’s the shows last season. We’ve known this for awhile. I wish we were getting more than 8 episodes though. POSE is amazing and groundbreaking

It's the lack of women supporting women for me! Let alone women of color. 2 white cis men have made over 2x the amount of money on a VERY successful show about Trans folx of Color. But she should be happy for whatever she gets? For a powerful show that focuses on the need for community and family... Black Trans women still gotta be silent about their experiences?? Janet is a leader for the Trans community, so if she don't speak up for herself, what kind of message does that send to the rest of us without her success and platform? Now, maybe her private life is her business and should have stayed that way... but let Lady Mock speak up and preach to the children! Ok!

Was absolutely the wrong time. This was a premiere party and celebration amongst all the cast members and crew. You ruined their moment. She could’ve done this at a later time. Vivica is right. Hollywood is a business and someone is ALWAYS watching you. She definitely ruined future opportunities. Unless she has the working capital to invest in her own projects you better learn to play the game. Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis continuously speak out against the pay gap and they continue to work.

see the thing is with janet, she had no qualms sharing her salary on pose because she just got a multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix. She realzied how netflix respected her as a creative and she called out FX because she needed too

Except that Janet's "multi-million dollar" Netflix deal is long gone. None of her projects were ever produced. She just worked on a few other Ryan Murphy shows. Remember, those "multi-million dollar" deals don't start paying out until you produce actual content. Netflix had no intention of producing any of her shows. Janet's Netflix deal was about checking diversity boxes and celebratory press releases.

Miss Janet Mac I appreciate her honesty and as a black trans woman transparency can be very hard at times We don’t know all of what she’s going through I mean mama you could’ve kept your private life to yourself but I get where you’re coming from you’re trying to fight for what you rightfully deserve and I see nothing wrong with that but we just have to understand there’s more to the story there’s more why the showPOSE is ending
