This is my favorite artistic era of hers . And her look is so ethereal in red. She made the blueprint for other artists to be more confessional on their music like Rihanna and Beyonce. It's a dark masterpiece. Respect. ❤️

I'm here cuz of the 25th anniversary of "The Velvet Rope". It was the first Janet album I ever bought and I remember the hype and excitement of this album coming out. It was her first album in 4 years and retrospectively, it was her first comeback album since the hugely successful "janet." album. When I was 13 years old, I wanted to see her "Velvet Rope" Tour back in 98 and Usher was her opening act. My mom wouldn't let me go cuz she thought I was too young to go and it would've been a very rough audience. I never forgave her for that HAHA!!! But to celebrate, I'm going to listen to the new deluxe reissue of the album and I'm gonna watch the HBO Concert. Happy 25TH!!!

Yeah I think it was when she was with James Debarge when she was 18. Statistically it's the moment when u leave that's the most dangerous for anyone trying to free yourself from a dark toxic relationship. It feels like you are trying to bust threw a gravitational pull where the abuser tries to break your spirit. I was in a toxic relationship like that and this album is deep and I'm sure it's saved a lot of lives. It helped the 18 year old in me fighting depression and trying to find selflove. 🙏

Are you assuming that her fame exempted her from human experiences? Money and fame doesn’t shield you from those things. You’d have to understand her upbringing to understand how she would end up in a situation like that. She’s no different from most women.

I'm glad I watch it because its the 25th Anniversary of The Velvet Rope album. I saw it on VH1 to One long time ago. Janet is biggest stars of all time. Her album is personal, confessional for her.

Awww,....very very sad hearing her talk about Rene taking credit etc and then....him suing her for $10m for his part in her successes during divorce. Im so curious what he overall get, I mean $10m from someone worth $100m at that time (shes prob worth about $200m now)....is really not bad...but she seems always someone fair. ive never ever ever heard artists give their helpers credit the way she has...none. do u know Beyonce's close relationships with her producers? gaga's? anyone's? so...idk. but im sure it all ended up ok. she was always so kind during this era to make him credited in interviews. god I wish it didn't end but im sure it had to. she def loved him very much
