It's so sad how this woman's career was ruined by 1 incident! The fact that this song doesn't have hundreds of millions of views is beyond me. The Velvet Rope (1997, this song is also on this album) is a gift to this world and should be honored as such. Just my humble opinion...

Libra Lover I understand but as an huge Janet can I can tell you her career was not ruined. She’s has SEVERAL sold out tours. And several albums after that that did well. That “ ban you speak of was short lived during the damita jo era. Although the album still sold well and was Grammy nominated. Every artist has peaks and valleys doesn’t mean he career is ruined. Check pollstar for tour revenue her “ metamorphosis” residency in Vegas made more than some shows that have been there for years.

Her career wasn't ruined, it was side tracked for a little bit after nipplegate it took a while but she rebounded since the DAMITAJO era, albums after that did well and she still had the backing of her millions of fans, she is still considered one of the most successful female artist of all times, and one of the things janet has always wanted to do was to join her brothers in the rock and roll hall of fame and with the help of her fans accomplished that also... and in her own words told her brothers....YOUR BABY SISTER HAS ARRIVED. it's a very big thing to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame., you can't keep a good woman down.

The 1997 single “Together Again” was so successful that when it was released from the Velvet Rope album it was released with several other remixes. There’s the “Deeper Remix” which is a slowed down, sensual, jazz influenced version of the song and it has a great video to go along with it. Then there’s my personal favorite version which is the “DJ Premiere Remix” which has a more hip-hop flavor added in with a totally different rhythm. She performs the latter at the American Music Awards in 1998. I think it’s her most successful single ever, don’t quote me on that😂 But this song is in fact from The Velvet Rope album which came out in 1997. Fun Fact: The giraffes that were used in the video belonged to her brother Michael and the youngest one wondered off into wilderness and everyone was getting nervous because it was getting late and the mountain lions were gonna coming out. He eventually turned up though and he was fine.

It is from the Velvet Rope. She wrote this about friends of hers who died of AIDS but it’s upbeat because she wanted to celebrate them. In her more recent performances of this song, she dedicates it to Michael. You should check out the video she did for the “Deeper” remix of this song and her live performance on the AMAs features another dope remix.

I have loved Janet since the Control Album, but when she released The Velvet Rope CD she blew me away. Not only did she release one of her best, most iconic songs as a tribute to the friends she had that had died from HIV/AIDS, she had another song on that album called Free Xone, where she sang, "Boy meets boy, boy loses boy, boy gets cute boy back. Girl meets girl, girl loses girl, girl gets cute girl back. One rule: no rules. One love, Freexone." AND she did a cover of Tonight's The Night without changing the pronouns, singing "'Cause I love you girl" repeatedly. I know many, many people say it, but yes, it still bothers me that her career was derailed because of a ridiculous controversy. I think Justin Timberlake is a talented artist/actor, but I've never been a huge fan of his after he literally hung her out to dry. White guy doesn't suffer at all, black woman sees her entire career come to an immediate halt. Janet is one of the most successful artists of all time, and yet she's also one of the most underrated. What a strange world we live in.

I subscribed because you do the best Janet Jackson reaction videos. Please do her video “Rock With U”. The layering the do on that song is crazy and the video was way ahead of its time as most of her other videos. It is def a fan favorite.

Yes this is from The Velvet Rope album in 1997. It is an upbeat song. But it is a song she wrote about friends she lost to AIDS. There is also a slower version of this song which is also very good. It’s the deeper remix

React to Aaliyah “Giving up” Whitney Houston had her sing this to show her VASTLY underrated vocal talent!

This was actually written as and was intended to be a ballad. Like others have mentioned check out the the 'deeper' remixes.

Hi Jack!! You're so funny & cute when you talk about you're lack of dancing skills! Lol, I can't dance either. Can you please react to Janet's "It's Alright" feat. Heavy D. Thanks. 😍👍

Theres a slower r&b hip hop version of this that sounds like a completely different song which she performed at the AMA " DJ premier remix" . Also speaking of vocals, please react to Again live from the velvet rope tour. That song was nominated for an Oscar

Twenty Foreplay, please. It’s one of Janet’s smoothest jams.

The Velvet Rope era (97-98) is quite distinctive because of her image at the time. Fiery red hair. This is the fourth track you have done from this period. There is a Deeper remix of this song which is a slowed down version that almost soundsike a different track altogether. There's one other video from this album, Every Time, where she's back to being a brunette.
