She’s my favorite artist of all time. She doesn’t get enough credit for breaking down barriers for other artist like Beyoncé and Britney to name a couple. Well done documentary!

I still can’t get over Janet being blamed for literally standing there while Justin’s literal HAND opened her shirt. But of course the little blond boy is blameless. I mean it wasn’t a big deal either way, but the fact Janet and not Justin got burned by that incident is crazy. Also Scream is an amazing video. It’s one of the times Micheal seems more human and I love Micheal’s music but he was always this big otherworldly character and there are moments in the scream video that are so fown to earth brother/sister energy despite the out-of-the-world video…glances and looks. Wish we had more co-songs by them.

Janet Jackson is NOT JUST A BLACK POP MUSIC STAR, SHE IS A PHENOMENAL MUSIC STAR , The Blueprint for Beyonce, Ciara, Britney Spears, Aaliyah, Selena , TLC, Jennifer Lopez, and more. All of these ladies have said in countless interviews how Janet Jackson influenced them and inspired them wanting to get into the industry. Their dancing and video's are evidence of Janet's influence. LETS BE CLEAR, Paula Abdul only choreographed videos 4 videos from the Control Album, Janet tap danced and did Fred Astair dances with Michael in Vegas and n the Variety Show. Paula did assist in the style of dancing conducive to the video's of Control because of her cheerleading background.

Although I'm still looking at the documentary....I can honestly say I don't like the subtitles "art of seduction". Janet has made many contributions i.e. humanitarian, music, acting, etc. Sharing her life through various stages in art form. I strongly dislike how her coming into womanhood (sensuality and all) tries to overwhelm her body of work. She deserves more than that. We should respect her for more than just being sexy and MJ's sister. She has put in the work and continues to do so!!!!❤️❤️❤💞👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾

Janet Jackson left her mark on so many people and other artist and out did her brother. impressive . but a long journey to inspire others was far from over. now she doesn't make any more music I hope she now can continue on films and some commercials. if not then I just hope she enjoys life and Love with her baby son. God Bless to Janet Jackson and thank you Janet for making it. We can talk good or bad about Janet Jackson but if she didn't become a RAW talent in the world of music then none of us would have anything to say about her good or bad. 40 years she stayed on top #1 . I don't see no other female artist to do it but her. The First one.

Thank you for this beautiful heart connected documentary on Janet Jackson. It takes us to really understand the depth of her struggles and what a beautiful being she is, on her journey of surviving this incredible pressure she has been under all of her life. As an original spark of creation, Janet has gone through a great deal of extreme engineering in her life with many handlers surrounded her at every step of the journey. Despite it all, and the betrayals and set-ups, she stayed connected to goodness and empathy, holding much light, where many broke under the pressure of the collateral damages of fame and tabloid press. Thank you for this sensitive, subtle journey through Janet's life.

Uhmmmm one other thing. Janet was performing in front of cameras since she was 7! How did Paula teach her that? Janet was acting, singing, and dancing in front of cameras before Paula was a cheerleader for the Lakers. So that statement makes no sense. What Paula maybe did was pull Janet out of her comfort zone and get her to be more comfortable with being front and center, to break way from the group and lead. But let’s not act like Janet didn’t come fully equipped with knowing how to dance in front of cameras. She’d already been on Fame before Paula came into the picture.

Things are told in a very odd order in this. You talk about Control then jump back to her marrying DeBarge. Then later you talk about her second marriage and having a child then jump back 12 years to 20YO. It makes it very fragmented and doesn't create a clear picture and the title has nothing to do with this documentary. It's another doc heavily wrapped up in her family more than Janet. I would love a Janet doc where her family was a two minute blip and the rest was all about Janet's career and dives deep into her music.

Okaaay. I get it. This whole doc is so thrown together by someone with experience in media and video editing. But it’s still thrown together with one “expert” whose topic knowledge is no deeper than that of any general fan that’s read or seen several interviews and music videos over 3 decades. As a former editor of Attitude Mag, I thought the expert would have deeper insights on Janet’s impact in the gay community. We didn’t get that either! Unfortunately all he has is general knowledge. On that note, it’s a good introduction to who Janet’s contribution to entertainment. But your title is sooooo damn misleading. If you had stuck to that topic of seduction and shared how a sheltered child star turned into a seductress of her own making without losing her soul this doc would’ve done more than scratch the surface. But doing so would’ve taken more time, more budget, and possibly deeper research. Still, the video is good overall who are new to her artistry.

  • @prettygurl747

Its clear that this was not put together by an actual fan of Janet. Too many important details missing and too much jumping around - you’re talking about her songs from the 80’s, then showing pictures of her in the 90’s, jumping from that time to photos of her in 2023. It’ll confuse someone just getting into her work. Respectfully, leave this type of content to her fans, because we know more details about her life, why she made certain career moves, important dates, and the inspiration behind a lot of her songs.

Lawwwwd he said Janet was “street”? 😂 Chile bye! He should’ve just stuck with relatable. And that statement, “seen as an innovator in Black pop music”. Why does this older gay white dude diminish her contribution to music by putting her in a racial music category that doesn’t even exist? He’s old enough to know you have black music, typically RnB and Hip Hop, and pop which is basically popular music White people like, aka mainstream. But in this country it all began with Black people. Janet transcended musical race barriers over 30 years ago and is one of the few Black artists that has. And that was by design so small thinking music execs and journalists couldn’t market her to just one audience. This is why you don’t rely on just one “expert” in docs like this. His lack of knowledge is beginning to show.

Adam Mattera needs to get his 'facts' straight. The Jackson 5 was not the 1st BLACK boy band..they WERE the FIRST BOY BAND. To mention the race makes it seem like there was another boy band b4 them when they were the blueprint. Also, Paula Abdul was the choreographer for the videos.. but she NEVER taught or helped Janet how to dance or find her feet. Janet had been dancing since childhood. Paula Abdul OWES her fame to Janet. Its like they just can't stop downplaying the black talent that helps make everyone else a star. The nerve.

Let’s be honest. There was nothing really seductive about Janet until her self titled album! She was head to toe covered and stayed in her “clean black artist” lane for a decade before she became individual and authentic. Only as Madonna kicked the doors wide open and completely changed the (pop) business was she able to break free and be authentic, sensual and seductive. She was an excellent entertainer but never really seductive! Let’s not forget she had to compete with four of the all time greatest entertainers of our modern time: Michael, Madonna, Prince and George!

Yes, stage presence… and she has lots of it! The definition of stage presence is: “the ability to command the attention of a theatre audience by the impressiveness of one's manner or appearance.” I think you’re thinking about audience interaction, and Janet interacts with her audience consistently throughout her concerts.
