The lesson here boys and girls is that good music does NOT have to be complicated. You can write a million great songs using major, minor and 7th chords. the originiality and uniqueness comes from the lyrics and vocal melodies.

They laid out so much ground work for the 90s alternative rock that came around
Thanks for including all the chords. So many people hear the first part of the song & say "two chords, done." All over the internet I saw "A & G."
Love how you always show the strum pattern, and how to get the most sound out of an otherwise pretty simple chord progression. Thanks Marty!!!
This is great Marty. I like how you give us enough details so we can tell what is going on even if we can't peek. I know that how you make it easy for people to see what you're doing is also very helpful too. I always come away with more little nuances of information than I had before, that make really big differences in how I do some things now. You just naturally tell it.
Marty - one of the things I have loved challenging myself with over the years I've been practicing with you is whether or not I can learn the song just by watching you play it during the intro. It's impossible if the title of the video covers your hands though :(
Marty is simply the best
Keep it up Mr. Schwartz.. I started playing guitar almost a year and a half ago and your lessons have helped tremendously. Thank you for your hard work and inspiration! 🙏🤙🙌
Marty, thank you very much for making playing the guitar fun. Really appreciate your work and help!
I'll never get bored of watching you play that lovely Gibson 😍
Marty, great tutorials! Thanks for putting some great acoustic classics out there.
Yay! So excited to be learning this song!
Always wanted to learn this one, thanks so much for breaking it down Marty!
Can’t wait to get home to try this!!
Marty one of the best guitarists on KZread. He can play so many different styles at a high level
Very cool simple tune. Thanks Marty, you explain it perfectly!

You’re awesome, Marty!! Thanks so much for your videos and just being you😎🤙
Sweet song! Great lesson Marty! 🤟🏽
Thank you Marty!
Great breakdown! I'm a bassist so I appreciate you taking 30 seconds to show how the bass line ties into the transition chords.
Cheers Marty great help 👍
Keep Rocking , I'm at Berklee graduate bass player, after 20 years of playing night after get some pretty bad carpal tunnel, so I'm transitioning to guitar which I mean I already played but your tutorials are fantastic . your a solid awesome guitar player and I really enjoy studying with you thank you ,

I started playing guitar and every band I played in couldn't find a good bass player, so I started learning everything that I could about playing the bass guitar. Now I'm older and not recorded with bands anymore. I started playing guitar again. I pop, slap and play two hand technique on bass. Best of luck with playing and hope that carpal tunnel gets better. It happens to a lot of people. Take care! Aloha from Maui
Great song! I love this one.
I love this so much thank u Marty
Awesome as all ways👍
Another great tutorial Marty
My fav song
Great choice! saw JA at the Garden in ‘92. Classic song.

i'm always a fan of your channel, i have learned a lot from you. i applied some of your techniques in my songs. thank you
Beautiful 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice to see someone else play the G, A and other chords differently. I catch myself doing this in practice and thought I was being lazy. Id never do it in a live show but seems I'm more fluid player when I relax an mute a note or two. Thanks, for that. I'll loosen up and see where my playing goes.
Such a great song and now I'm playing it 😅 thx Marty n1
Thank u for the lesson Marty. This one of my favorite songs. Thanks 4 breaking it down. 😈🔥🎅
Your one cool dude Marty! Thanks for all the help

I love this, it’s kinda like over the hills and far away. If love it if you did more heavy metal riffs. But this was a great video, keep it up Marty!!!!
Hey Marty! NICE VIDEO!!!! LOVE IT :)
Hey Marty! I just wanted to say thanks for posting videos all these years. I’ve just recently picked up guitar and I love it so far. I got engaged a few months back and would really love to surprise her by being able to play our song with a guitar. Is there any chance rhat you would be able to make a lesson on Ben Rector’s “Forever Like That”? I would really really appreciate it. Thanks!!
I absolutely love your Gibson!! 😍 How long have you had it and would you recommend?!
Thanks again Marty for another great tutorial. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do one of the muffled acoustic guitar intro of Prince's "Raspberry Beret". Its the acoustic sound of the video version.
The honey roll ac/dc!!!
Use your pinky how easy! Thanks Marty!
same strum as change. thats why i keep coming back to this while thinking about change. something in my brain connected that. nice.

Is that a fairly normal strum pattern? It has a really great groove to it.
Yes ! Janes Addiction
MUCHASSSS GRACIASSSS
First song I learned as a kid
The only thing I do different is in the change-up part - only two real parts to this tune - is take that same G formation and move it up a whole step to A, making it an A11 with the open G and D sounding out; could be wrong, but it can add to that part a bit. It's a fun to play to tune on drums too as there's no real drum part so you can make it up when playing along. Good stuff, most excellent channel.
I know Sympathy and needed this song to round-out my intro
I think you should do lessons for better amd more famous songs or moderately difficult solos, but on every third or fourth day,not every day of the week because it is not worth it.You are a great teacher and a great guitarist, and that's why it would be so cool to see you do a lot of famous songs or solos
how about a tutorial on Jane's Addiction's, Three Days? Its a little obscure but a monster of a song. Another suggestion along that lines might be Window Paine, by Smashing Pumpkins - again, a hidden monster just waiting to be covered.
At last, someone doing a lesson on this. I had to work out most of this for myself but this is still really helpful to me ~ didn't they detune the guitar on the original to get it to sound even lower in the register?

I play it 1/2 step down
I knew how to play this song for years, but I forgot the a few parts. Thanks for being a jukebox Marty. If you ever get a chance to teach us Box of Rain by the Grateful Dead that would be greatly appreciated. Aloha from Maui M.M.M. aka Mix Master Marty Thanks again
Hey Marty, Just wanted to say THANK YOU! My dad passed away about 10 years ago now, he was a deadhead and loved playing the blues, my best memories of him are when he was jamming when we were out camping - he was so fun to listen to that people from all over the campsite would come and listen and hang out. I've messed around with his guitar (Garcia GY-1 - ironic right?) for a little while and have finally started practicing daily. Your videos have helped me immensely. I'm now watching your blues playlist so that hopefully one day I can play like my dad. Keep rockin Chris
Your tutorials are seriously the best. Not beginner, but not crazy expert -very very well done. Thumbs up.
Absolutely love JA and this song! Thanks for posting this! Gonna try to master it! Well, master may be too strong of a word. Play it in an acceptable way is a better choice of words. Lol
Marty says I love my good and plenty
I love your videos Marty! How about some BNL? Brian Wilson would be awesome!
Do more Jane’s Addiction
Yo man! Thanks so much for these videos! I just started playing a few weeks ago and you've been a HUGE help. On this song, I'm stuck on a couple things. When I try to play the a7 (?) and have to move my pinky between d and g, I'm struggling with it muting the other string below. Any advice? Also, do you think you might be able to break down a little more of the part where you talk about the base line and transition? I'm trying to follow, but can't quite tell exactly what you're doing. Last, so you have any more beginner chord videos beyond the one with (I think it was) F? Thanks again!

Marty, could you maybe throw in some lessons how to be as cool as you too haha, you rock!🤘
I was going crazy with this song until you showed the bar A. Doh! So much easier. Thanks!
