Could've been sarcasm or he was a new player. There's a rule, don't remember in which version of pool (played 10 times top), that if you don't hit any of your balls, you skip a turn. So for a new guy to hit his ball, it could be a good thing.

@@petar932 you don’t get to move it anywhere you want at all, there is a line in front of the white balls dot. If your opponent misses and you get your turn, you can do one of two things. You can either keep the ball where it is or you can move it anywhere, BEHIND the line not the table...

I would say Simon Baker plays billiards regularly. generally you can tell from stance and bridge an experienced player and a newb. bank shots are not difficult, in fact, the kids shot (cut to the corner), is generally considered of same or harder difficulty. and Simon's stance gives him away, it's a well honestly stance. if was a one off lucky, he'd have a really shitty stance.

Patrick Jane lost his bet, he stated "sink a ball" whether it was cue ball or not, it wasn't specified.

This was a bad one, even with mind games any player that had played more than a minute would have at least hit the ball, maybe missing the corner slightly, not miss the entire ball. Ball into opposite corner was nice shot though. Not too difficult to make it unrealistic, but not the easiest shot either.

Excellent point. Jane did play dirty to help him ensure a win by distracting the first guy by crushing him emotionally in telling him that the woman in blue is in no way interested in him. Regardless of all that, I agree with your point about too much Magic Man.

My wife used to watch this show and I saw so many flaws in many of his brilliant deductions I quickly lost interest. This is only one of the examples.No chalk on the cue would be my first call.Kid didn't have any idea of how to handle a cue stick.Lets get down to his challenge:Nobody who plays pool would take that as a basis to divulge info or play for money .Nope,not going to happen.You play me its rush to 3 on 10 ball,11 for 9 ball or 8 to 8 ball.Alternate break rule and rotation with called pockets. This showed sucked and I wouldn't waste 1 hour of my life watching such drivel.That is just a glaring example why this show was so phony.
