Well, urdu is an indian language, was not spoken in any parts of Pakistan. We adopted it and love it as our second language due to everyone having their own local languages

@@coveringeternity Urdu is national language and used as a bridge to communicate with other people. English is official. For example when i went to a village in Sindh, i could only speak to the people who undersood urdu, just like in india you have different languages and dialects, same here. My mother can not speak urdu and has problem when meets people from other parts of coountry, funny but true.

A subcontinent ..ruled by Muslims...Urdu is based on the languages of Muslims mainly and has extreme similarities with Arabic,Persian,Turkish and has some words from Spanish ,Latin , Sanskrit etc....and Muslims and elites used to speak it in the courts in mughal era...get a life...Urdu is connect to Pakistan and is a first Official and national language of Pakistan...you don't even know about Urdu and passing comments..jealousy will get you nowhere.☺

It is 100% Urdu. Urdu has the power to absorb languages in it. A lot of poets have used words like mushk-e-chaman, jaan-e-Bharan and others in Urdu poetry. Real Perian speaking people have quite a different accent of most words that we use in Urdu. Mostly, it is hard to understand the word we use in Urdu but somehow get the chance to listen by a Persian speaking person.

Unfortunately, the confluence of Bollywood, Pop, and dwindling academic standards have brought us to a point where people read Iqbal and Faiz or any piece of poetry written in Urdu e Moalla and think it’s Farsi. Urdu borrows heavily from Farsi and Arabic because it is deeply related to both the languages. However, while someone speaking Farsi and not having an understanding of Urdu would understand many parts of this song because of shared vocabulary, he wouldn’t understand half of it, because it is in Urdu. Ghalib would be petrified if someone confused his Urdu poetry with his Farsi kalam and Iqbal would be mortified to hear that his shaheens could no longer differentiate between good Urdu and Farsi. For instance, look at this couplet by Ghalib: آتے ہیں غیب سے یہ مضامیں خیال میں غالب صریر خامہ نوائے سروش ہے I hope our education system can be rebuilt so that we can preserve and nurture the rich tradition of Urdu - the language of love in the subcontinent and one of the most beautiful languages in the world. اردو ہے جس کا نام، ہم ہی جانتے ہیں داغ سارے جہاں میں دھوم ہماری زباں کی ہے May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala save us from the day when truck art begins to be representative of Urdu while actual Urdu poetry is condemned as Farsi.

Urdu plus persian (farsi)as has been important portion of all urdu poetry of taat time...all greats like Ghalb Iqbsl n Meer tawi did poetry in farsi too

What an amazing voice and beautiful poetry with such an addictive tune.

Some songs were sung to be heard forever . Remember in the late 70s early 80s when ever it played on the radio I stopped until finished good old days .
