First of all I would just like to express with saying that this is by far the greatest example of a workplace accommodation of how it can go wrong and how it went right. Employers are so worried about protecting themselves that they don’t feel a need to accommodate the employees because they feel like that employees are blaming them when it doesn’t matter who’s the blame or not the blame the main focus should be on taking care of the employee for a potential great success for the business. Such a perfect scenario this video should be used in training for managers and employees.

Working with a disability can be hard but it’s not impossible. It may take having serious discussions with your manager on a regular basis to ensure that she or he remembers the value that you bring to the team. In my case, I think that is where I could have done a better job-selling myself to my manager on a regular basis. I thought my accomplishments, the quality of my work, and other measurable standards would remind my manager that I’m a valuable team member-but no. When you're perceived as an inconvenience to the team you can’t let the results of your work speak for you, you have to be your own cheerleader. This video will help with those difficult conversations.

@@sl4983 The fact is they don't care if your effective or doing well. The employer is more concerned with control and keeping all dynamics the same. I believe that is the point she is making. Performance and being effective should be what they vslue

I’ve found the most frustrating thing about asking for accommodations is that both my employer and my doctor want me to come up with the solution. I don’t know!! I don’t even know what my options are!!

Not to mention that data shows that 70 % of those who could benefit from a reasonable accommodation would even speak up to ask for it. Most simply do not know it exist. My friend worked with her ADA/ADAAA disability/impairment for 16 years straight with her employer until l researched it for her and made them aware.

I wished that I was treated with dignity and respect at PRL.😢😅 But inspite Disability Discriminations from Blyth, Monica, HR Sarah Bilton, District Mgr. Lennox and CEO Romeo, my sales exceeded my monthly sales quota. This credit is to my faith in God's favor, grace, and mercy. 😊

I wish my manager even allowed me to talk, when I asked her for let me stay on the ground where I usually work and not to move me to top floor because I have knees and back pain due to cancer treatment, she yelled at me and said I should be ashamed for ask for accommodation and that I don’t have a disability(I’m a cancer survivor) she told another employee to hold her otherwise she will do something to me. She remove my working table out of the place. She is very abusive, she retaliate against me all the time I complained to HR let’s see what happens
