Jamyang Norbu on GORSHEY & Echoes from the Forgotten Mountains #94

As a refugee who embarked on a harrowing journey to escape a troubled past at a tender age, marked by the absence of familial connections for countless years, narratives have become my lifeline. Without the semblance of a permanent address, stories have emerged as my sole asset, composed of dreams, hopes, and ideas-a treasure trove I hold in the highest regard.
My upbringing was steeped in the richness of narratives, acting as the driving force behind my pursuit of continuous growth and self-improvement. This journey has not only solidified my passion for storytelling but has also highlighted the profound impact it has on our scattered global community. This endeavor has served as a vital bridge, fostering mutual understanding among individuals from varying walks of life. It's been instrumental in bridging the generational gap, uniting the wisdom of yesteryears with the vigor of the present through the conduit of stories, experiences, and ideas.

Gen Jamyang Norbu la, thank you so much for standing up for Gen Lobsang Samten Tiny la issue on Gorshey. As you have mentioned that he is a masterful performer in our Ache Lhamo theatre. Furthermore he has been the TIPA's Artistic Director for decades and taught all the performing arts that is taught at TIPA. All together he has spend 45 years at TIPA and still teaching performing arts in Bay Area. This Gorshey issue is real and we need more TIPA former directors to stand up for this issue. Remember since 1975 TIPA started the world tour to educate the world audience that we are very different from the Chinese, whether it is language, culture and religion. Now today we need to teach our own Tibetans that our Gorshey is very different from the Chinese. Wake up and get real.

TiPA is only preserving U-Tsang Arts and Performance till now. Those who spend 40 plus yrs in TiPA just focus on U-Tsang and completely ignored Amdo and Khampas Arts and Performance. If u don't believe me look up urself old videos of TiPA. They named the Khampa and Amdo song, but the way they perform is far from traditional dance of Amdo and Kham. Lhakar Gorshay is started by Khampa and Amdo that too from Tibet itself and u guys are jealous of popularity of Lhakar Gorshay. Look around Lhamo Tsokpa in India and TiPA. Those Tsokpa can't recruit new members becoz of changing generation and unwellingnees to preserve all Tibetan Arts and Performance. Those So called Director spends 40 plus yrs in TiPA are arrogant and eats lots of public fund and donation. Gorshay is catching up with new generation of whole Tibet and uniting Tibetan. Lhakar Gorshay gives the reason to wear Tibetan Chupa and traditional clothes. You should be happy of that, if u are Tibetan First.

Tibetans shouldn't forget that Taiwan, aka Kuomintang, once had the same objective on Tibet's occupation as the Red Chinese. It is only recently that DPP policy has changed slightly and as far as I understand they have gotten rid of the “Tibetan and Mongolian Minorities” welfare office in Taiwan.

I know you,Jamyang Norbu la, are quite an active writer in English about Tibet past and present. Have you ever tried to write in Tibetan or have your books translated in Tibetan.? The monk wolf Chitues are crying howling that there are books in Tibetan to prove that Tibet was an independent country. Moreover they complain why these books are not published .Do you think there exist really such books in Tibetan.? If you think so why don't you try to compile? Or do you think that these wolf monks howling in the darkness hoping that something will turn up. Then they would say "we told you so" you lousy English or foreign loving pumpkins . Jamyang la, in my opinion there are no books in Tibetan that clearly prove Tibet's independence or non- independence in terms that the international audience can easily understand today. To me it seems that we never bothered to record the political nature of Tibet in regard to our political status internationally except some bits and pieces during reing of the 13th.Dalai Lama after the British Indian force marched to Lhasa in 1904. What do you have to say or you want to remain silent? Normally silence is not your option. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Such a nonsense talk. You know nothing about Amdo Tibetans and their history. It looks like you find pleasure mocking Amdo Tibetans. I wanted to educate you that Ma Bufang was born in 1903 and died in 1975 and ruled part of Amdo and Kham for only about a decade, but history of Amdo and it's people goes back to centuries. Do you know when Tibetan empire fought against Tang, it was Amdowas who fought in the frontier? Don't tried to create a new narrative of great Amdo tibetans. Shame on you .
