Jammin / Jah Live - Bob Marley, One Love Peace Concert

Музыка

The One Love Peace Concert was a large concert held on April 22, 1978 at The National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
This concert was held during a political civil war in Jamaica between opposing parties Jamaican Labour Party and the People's National Party. The concert came to its peak during Bob Marley & The Wailers' performance of "Jammin'", when Marley joined the hands of political rivals Michael Manley (PNP) and Edward Seaga (JLP).

Every time when I see this video I cry and smile at the same moment and chills are running through my body. Here, at this concert Bob Marley is a real prophet - I can see the power, the energy in him; how it shook him, almost out of control. Jah speaks through him and his songs. Jah LIVE! Peace and love, people.

That lightning at 2:19 is the proof that some God was on Bob Marley's side. He was a modern Christ. He could unite people with the power of music, teaching them the right way. Those puppets may have caused the death of his body, but Bob's spirit is eternal, and still alive today, after 40 years from his demise. BOB LIVES ON! Rest in Power, Prophet 40 years without You, but You're still here!

I can wear it in school though. RasTafari is a life commitment, you can't become a Ras you are born one. It's the fact whether you realize you are or not.

Bob was such a powerful and uniting force during the political turmoil of of the 70s in Jamaica, and a testament to the power of music to bring people together! I get goosebumps witnessing this because there was so much partisanship, corruption and violence and in a moment of musical diplomacy, he was able to bring the two leaders who seemed so divided together! Also, love how he ended with the song "Jah Live," because, though I'm not religious, that song, the Wailers and their background lyrics, brings me right back home! Vibing!

Only Bob Marley could have done this! A testament to his strength and determination to spread the message of peace and love of the Rastafarian.

Bob went all out on this one, he was in his element like never before, when he said watch, watch, watch, watch, watch what you doing, he was reprimanding Junior Marvin for playing the wrong key

There are so many lessons that can be learnt from this performance. 1. The power of the music encapsulated his whole being and he went into another realm. 2. the lightning struck out of nowhere which was very symbolic which shows divine intervention and 3. d Bob united the two leaders together.

Esta versión de Jamming que hizo Bob en el One Love Peace Concert es la más sublime expresión del REGGAE en su máximo esplendor. Eterno Marley. Jah Rastafary.

One of the most amazing performances I've ever seen! I'd read about The One Love Peace Concert and have seen short clips and read about the history behind the political backdrop at the time but seeing this just floored me! Like numerous others who have commented, I got 'em too --- chills, tears, the works. Only Bob!
