Lyrics
Everybody
Don't want no war,
'Cos we're too young to die,
So many people,
All around the world,
Seen their brothers fry.
What's the motive?
In your madness.
You've made my people cry.
So politicians this time
Keep your distance.
'Cos we're too young to die.
You know we're too young to die,
You know we're too young to die,
You know we're too young to die,
You know we're too young to die,
What's the answer?
To our problems.
I think we've gone too high,
Little children,
Never said a word now,
But still they have to die.
It won't be long.
Dancing like we do now,
To put this sad world right.
So don't you worry,
Suffer no more,
'Cos we're too young to die.
You know we're too young to die,
You know we're too young to die,
You know we're too young to die,
You know we're too young to die,
All gone when they drop the bomb.
Can the politicians reassure?
'Cos here I am presuming that
Nobody wants a war
There's so many people praying
Just to find out if they're staying.
But lately stately governments
And disillusioned leaders,
So full of empty promises
But rarely do they feed us.
Put our backs against the wall,
Or don't we count at all?
Can you decide,
Are you mesmerised.
Do you know which side you're standing?
Cos when it falls gonna take us all.
Gotta know what we're demanding,
I never lie,
Can't your hear the cry,
Coming from on high,
We're too young to die

Gosh those horns and that bass, can’t get over it. Thank you mum for making me born in the 90s with this music
This is what we call, real music
10 mins seems like it's over before you know it when it's Jamiroquai / They could vamp this for a year straight and I still wouldn't get tired of grooving

This extended version may be my favourite Jamiroquai song ever. No business, no shortening, just pure musical talent and powerful message ! A masterpiece, much better than the album version, the latter being already much better than the single version ^^

Much agreed
Can you imagine how pleasant that was? Dude, I bet when they finished recording this 10 min version they became extremely proud of themselves... this is the best version by far! I really love this song and when I found this version I felt like I was in heaven. 7:35 - 10:11 is the perfection achieved in music.
Wow, this is the first time I've heard this version. The guitar solo at the end is amazing! Also, who knew that the violins mimic what Jay is singing during the chorus? You obviously can barely make it out in the album due to the vocals on top. Nice! Now I'm kind sad that they changed the ending of the album version. They removed 5 minutes and copy pasted a 1-minute version of the chorus, lol. They should've just added this version instead.

This version came on the vinyl version of the album. When You Gonna Learn is much longer and better too than the radio version used on CD and cassette. Think one more track is longer on vinyl as well. It was a double album there's a great untitled extra track on the vinyl only of Travelling Without Moving as well. Yes the 10 min version of TYTD is the best. Total classic and great jazzy sections

The best music to ride a road, study or work: Only Jamiroquai!
Thanks Jamiroquai for being that music inspiration during highschool years in the 90's.... so many arguments too you saved my and girlfriend at the time from having because of songs like this, we would just shut up and draw then make up.. fellas yo these the jams to dance wit that special lady man, on some grown up stuff..... STILL A BANGER! sorry jammin while typing forgive me yall...awwman..
1993 Evanston IL. (a suburb of N. Chicago) kickin' it in a buddies basement chilling out. He says, "maaan I want you to hear this song. He had it on the underground music scene in Chi. He said, who does this dude that sound like? JUST LIKE STEVIE W.! I thought it was Stevie?!!(during the chorus at least). I WAS BLOWN AWAY!!! Love their music! Deserved so much more SUCCESS!
When the chorus hits I kinda can't believe this isn't a Stevie Wonder song.

Joel Gabriel Totally agree, hence why it pains me that newer Jamiroqai fans only care about stuff from "Travelling without Moving" onwards. Nothing wrong with wanting to dance live to "Little L" or "Canned Heat", but let's be honest: the first 2 albums were Jamiroquai at their best.
@sillyslim4769
6 жыл бұрын
Incog2k6 first three were the best for sure The change they went through after twm I feel sounds worse overall But I think Jay had a change of mind from after emergencys release to space cowboy about radicalism or something and valued dancing his blues away with another more, thus changing how he felt and reflected it with his music And look at it this way, since the first three are predominantly acid jazz and not disco you can value these three more this way :]

Still magnificent after all these years, but even now, all I here is Zender, everyone else fades into the background
Listening to this on a live performance must be something close to ecstasy!
This music is so timeless and organic and rich with soo many layers. Quite genius. Today's music is sooo lacking. Real musicians, real instruments and creativity to the 1000th power = Jamiroquai
Dieci minuti sono sempre troppo pochi per questo pezzo meraviglioso... quanto mi mancano questi Jamiroquai e quanto mi mancano gli anni 90...

Q for the musicians here: is this now a straight sixteenth or swung feel? Feels like both works, triplet swing or sixteenth, but then slightly shuffled, New Orléans style. Seems to be slightly in the middle.

@zig019

The underlying groove is straight sixteenths for sure I'd say, but I'd notate this groove as a funk on a chart. There's definitely a swinging element to it, but that comes from the combination of the straightish groove with the more syncopated bass line. Getting in that pocket is really hard but man when it works it works!!
8:39 Best bit
