Lyrics:
You know this boogie is for real.
I used to buy my faith in worship,
But then my chance to Heaven slipped.
I used to worry about the future
But then I throw my caution to the wind.
I had no reason to be care free
No no no, until I took a trip to the other side of town
Yeah yeah yeah, you know I heard that boogie rhythm
Hey- I had no choice but to get down down down down.
Dance, nothing left for me to do but dance,
Off these bad times I'm going through just dance
Got canned heat in my heals tonight baby

I'm very disappointed that I've never seen a GIF of Jamiroquai jumping into the walls edited into him jumping into Mario 64 paintings and dancing around in the levels.

It was the 90's and beginning 2000's lot of things died since, there was a lot of Disco/Funk reintroduction, a notable one was Daft Punk and the house, nu-disco scene. It was also the time of the Techno-utopia and Y2k, and consumerism, but also of the "everything for kids" that started in the 80's and explode in the 90's... something that die out after the burst of the internet bubble and the 9/11 that destroyed utopism with the army and wrong side of patriotism imagery, that took more and more place with time. Lot of new techs where introduce to the mass, like portable phones by nokia ericson alcatel etc, internet, 3D game consoles with better way to store stories, games, new music genre and fusion etc (like jami)

Revisiting Jamiroquai since I was too young to remember his music back in the day.....And I never realized it's Persona music.
When I first heard this song, I seriously thought it was a bona fide disco hit that came out in 1977!! It's got almost everything needed for that retro feel: a funk bass line, a big violin section, a guitar playing through a Crybaby wah pedal and properly nuanced lead and background vocals! The only thing missing was a flute and flugelhorn on countermelody like Boz Skaggs had in his 1976 hit "Lowdown". Other than that, I can see the rhinestone-studded, bell-bottomed leisure suits, gold chains and large, perfectly spherical afros every time I close my eyes and listen to this song!!

+prd x Jamiroquai is an Acid Jazz group but that doesn't mean one of their songs can't be classified in multiple categories. For example, Pink Floyd is an acid rock band but has songs in classic rock genres, progressive rock, art rock, and psychedelic rock.

+prd x Thanks for that amazing lesson...... hahaha... I'm a musician, I don't need a Genre lesson... lol. I just mentioned how his "Acid Jazz" is very 70's disco, so I guess one of the Genre of 70's disco was a form of Acid Jazz, right Professor?

Welcome to Just Dance 2024 Edition ❤
The world needs more funk these days.
The first time I heard this on the radio, I was sure it was a lost gem from the mid to late 1970s. Had no idea it was actually 20 years newer! They did such a great homage to the disco era.
doesn't matter what year or century we're in, you know this is still relevant.
This man is the personification of disco. And why we need to preserve it.
JK was the coolest motherfuckin dude ever. I wish this band got more play and credibility than it did. So much creativity and boundless expression with movement and vision. Nothing like it these days

Sam Smith, Lorde, 21 Pilots, Fall Out Boy. The artists you don't listen to because you automatically assume they're crap due to them being popular/ish can actually be surprisingly deep. Sam Smith has an outstanding voice, along with Lorde. Their lyrics are creative and fresh, deep and meaningful. 21 Pilots, daring and unique, with lyrics that question the government and its workings. Their music is literally revolutionary. (I'd also suggest Gorillaz and Mystery Skulls, but some people are really harsh on them because they use animation for their music videos? Whatever.) Fall Out Boy's lyrics are substantial, clever, and not to mention riddled with deep meanings and references to great artists that came before them. And sometimes not so great artists. (The song "Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued" is one example of many, but the original title was "My Name Is David Ruffin And These Are The Temptations", and it's a song that highlights the trappings of fame.) Lastly, I know there will be negativity here because they're female pop artists, but Sia Furler, Taylor Swift, and Marina Diamandis. From the beginning, Sia and Marina used their music and videos for pure artistic expression, the way it should be. Neither artist is focused on fame or money, they have a story to tell and music to make, and they do so brilliantly. Taylor Swift has grown as of late, also using her music to speak volumes about how the media portrays her. She's also just a very strong person, to have been put through scrutiny and media related drama since the age of 16, and come out of it a stronger person who no longer cares what they or any boy has to say. She's seeing herself in a positive light and it's affecting her music and videos in a great way. Not sure about the other artists, because I don't really follow their activity so much, but I do know that the members of Fall Out Boy and Taylor Swift reach out to their fans on and off social media. Their behavior is a golden example of how celebrities should act. So, before you judge every single person in the music industry, look at this short list. And believe me, It's short. I could go on for days about the inspirational artists in today's music industry who've not only grown as people, but as lyricists and musicians. But these are just a few who come to mind. I hope you'll reconsider your stance, though you'll probably just skip over this like most of the ignoramuses in the KZread comments section.
