This guy was huge in the 90’s why he didn’t hit the states as big as the UK still amazes me
I can't believe America was so asleep during the 90's, Jamiroquai were everywhere in Europe you couldn't go anywhere without hearing JK's smooth voice and those funk beats.

This is a American I think The Return of the Space Cowboy album is better than Traveling without Moving album. Don't try to mess with the American music scene. He just didn't hit hard enough for some reason.

@@damonfisher5984 Jamiroquai are from London, England 😉. I think during the 90s the US radio and charts were paying more attention to grunge, rap and pop artists from their own music scene, while the rest of the world listened to music from Europe and the UK mostly, along with the american groups. For example, i'm from South America and while i was growing up in the 90s, as a tween, 90% of the music played on the radio was mostly brit pop, trip hop, electronic music from the UK & Scandinavia, alternative rock/metal, gangsta rap, less popular hip hop, german industrial, french, japanese & australian groups, along with funky bands like Jamiroquai. Even the local bands during the 90s were heavily influenced by the UK music from the 80s and 90s. The other 10% of radio programming consisted of grunge songs, huge US pop artist and popular rap during that time.

Jamiroquai was my favorite as a kid. I was the weird one though. Only had one other friend who even knew who the band was. I think Deeper Underground is what really killed it for him in the US. Anyone associated with that Godzilla movie died. Though Seven Days made a come back for him. Would hear it in the stores every now and then. Working at Starbucks for years, there were multiple lobby CD's that we played with him on it. It was more of an underground thing, it seemed.

I said the same!! All these years I thought America knew about Jamiroquai 🤭 they missed out on this epic funk!
Jamiroquai brings the funk! No idea why he never took off in the US. Talent

They was big in the college scene. Just didn't have that popular push here. I think they are great. But I like a lot UK soul. Loose Ends, Brand New Heavies, Soul II Soul, Mica Paris, Lisa Stansfield. Who lot of 80's Brit pop. Duran Duran. Of course I love the Rolling Stones. I'm just not big on the Beatles. I also love Adele. I knew she was going to blow up when I heard Chasing Pavement.

"He" is a "they" (Jay Kay being the front for the band Jamiroquai). And while they never hit it as big here as they did in the UK, they still sold about 3 million albums here.

Jamiroquai is one of the greatest bands of the 90s!
Jamiroquai is a fucking legend ❤
Jamiroquai rips, dude... Everything pre-2000 is funk soul, post is disco, and it's alllllll gold... Cheers! Another super important band in my life... 💓
Don’t worry, so many Americans have ‘slept on this band’ this is from the biggest selling funk album ever ‘Travelling without moving’ if you want to get your Mrs in the mood for some ‘Teez McGee Loving’ then pour a glass of wine, dim the lights and put ‘Every day’ on. You can thank me later lol Their earlier music was a throwback to the 70’s. ‘Alright’ has the bass line from ‘Idris Mohammad - Could Heaven Ever Be Like This’ and the keyboards from ‘Roy Ayers - Our Time is Coming’
Justin is an accomplished artist...I'll not dispute that fact. But, this dude is on another level.

Jamiroquai is such a great acid jazz funk band. They have so many great 👍 hits: Canned Heat and Virtual Insanity to name a few. Jay has incredible vocals. I always wind down and relax 😎 when I listen to them. We do have a live performance of Love Foolosophy and Cosmic Girl on the channel. It’s fire 🔥! Check it out. Thanks for a great free Friday choice.-Patricia 😎✌️🙌🔥🔥🔥🎵🎶🎵
That funky sound! 🔥
To answer your question on how the video was made, the floor was stationary the entire time - the cameras were attached to the set and the entire set was moved around, but the perspective from the cameras was of the floor moving - very clever video to go with an awesome song
He’s got Disco in his ❤️; LOVE!!!
That whole album is 🔥

Actually, you did one Jamiroquai song already... Love Foolosophy, on March 24. Such an incredible talent, love this group so much! Hopefully someone will request Cosmic Girl soon...

Right on. Right after Love Foolosophy, during the same performance that’s listed on the channel, they perform Cosmic Girl. This band has great acid jazz funk vibes. -Patricia 😄👍🎵🔥🔥🔥
This dude is a musical genius. Jay Kay is basically the band, he writes most if not all of the music and plays all the instruments when recording. Great Song.

Errr, sorry to burst you bubble, but I think you’re getting Jay Kay mixed up with Prince lol Jay doesn’t play any instruments or write the music. He writes most of the lyrics and comes up with melodies, but Toby Smith was his co-writer and keyboard player for the band from 1992 to 2003. Toby did a lot of the musical arrangements with the bands help. Stuart Zender (bassist) co-produced the first 3 albums with JK and Toby. Not forgetting Nick Van Gelders contribution to the first album. Matt Johnston and Rob Harris co-write most of the songs now

@@MrBillyboyroge Because he is Jamiroquai. He came up with the name, the buffaloman, he was a solo singer who was signed by Sony way before the band emerged and he pretty much got all his boys (the other live musicians) who were all local British boys. Stuart, Toby, Wallis etc. Jay writes pretty much every song. Some of the other guys do write songs as well too, (With Stuart Zender and Toby Smith who wrote a few other songs as well. I think Stuart Zender wrote Scam, Manifest Destiny, Mr. Moon etc. and Toby Smith wrote pretty much wrote the whole Synkronized album) But Jay is pretty much the mascot behind Jamiroquai. Like Prince was behind Prince and the Revolution and Marilyn Manson is behind his self titled band etc. (written by someone else) just posting as i heard differently.

@@semajidoe I’m not denying that Jamiroquai was Jay Kay’s brainchild and Sony did sign him on an 8 album deal, so he got all the publishing writes to the music. He doesn’t play any musical instruments though, hence why Toby was bought in followed by the other band members. Some would say Jay Kay plagiarised a lot of other band’s music from the 70’s and their is some truth in that when you start delving into 70’s music. For example, check out ‘Idris Mohamed- could heaven ever be like this’ which has the bass line to ‘Alright’ and Roy Ayers - Our time is Coming has the keyboards to ‘Alright’ They were all super talented musicians and the current lineup up are too. As you know, various band members changed in the early years, with most citing not being credited with the contribution they gave musically. Look at the background of the original drummer Nick Van Gelder. He often gets overlooked as does his contribution to the song writing and that ‘Jamiroquai sound’ on the album ‘emergency on planet earth’ Without Toby though, Jamiroquai would never have formed (Jay Kay has openly admitted that)

Stuart Zender is my Hero! This guy was 17 years old when they made their first album and 22 when the third came out! OMG! They were so mature musially at their age.
Pure quality, awesome musicians, J K, GREAT VOICE, SOULFUL, MY HEAD AND FEET, NO CONTROL
His Mother was a well known singer in England jazz I believe and definitely passed those genes down...you just went down a rabbit hole...you need to listen to more of Jamiroquai❤❤🔥🔥
I LOVE JAMIROQUAI ever since receiving his NEW FIRST ALBUM for my birthday back in the early 90's and then seeing him in a small club BEFORE he got famous!!!! EVERY SONG on EVERY ALBUM from his first until his most recent have been stellar. He took the ACID JAZZ genre up a notch and perfected the FUNK DISCO ROCK RETRO ELECTRONICA sound with his perfect voice and wonderfully clever COSMIC lyrical references and metaphors. This piece is a great autobiographical take on the origins of his musical shift in consciousness! GREAT songwriter of slick funk jazz driven influenced rhythms along with beautiful soulful ballads. FYI If you know or learn the history of his influences you'll find much of his inspiration comes from 70's jazzy atmospheric funk bands like Roy Ayers, Herbie Hancock, Lou Donaldson, EWF, Grant Green, Sly Stone, Gil Scott-Heron, of course Stevie Wonder and a slew of lesser known greats from that era...
I'm a massive fan of Jamiroquai. I love Jay Kay❤️. Thanks for reacting to his songs. Greetings from Argentina. 🇦🇷😘
i miss the 90's

JT could never be a deep as this cat. Check out Mr. Moon, Return of the Space Cowboy,
One of my favorite albums.
Definitely my all time favorite band. I don't understood how so many people here in the US have never listened to them. The Return of the Space Cowboy and Traveling Without Moving are must have albums.
We'll spend the night together, wake up and live forever!" This song promises everything and commits to nothing!!

The song is epic. Jay Kay is an incredible vocalist reminiscent of Stevie Wonder. There's been no one like Jamiroquai. And he's as good s dancer as he is a singer. Love his swag. Timeless video. 👌💜

I’d be shocked if Justin Timberlake isn’t a jamiroquai fan
Jay Kay is a true musical genius! And yes, America slept on Jamiroquai for sure. You should check out a german artist named Roosevelt. He writes all the music himself, plays all the instruments, sings it all...amazing synth pop sensation. And like Jamiroquai, America is yet again sleeping on Roosevelt. Check out his song "Last To Know", or "Echoes" from his newer album. You wont be dissapointed!
American Indians
Check out his little L, space cowboy, virtual insanity
I challenge everyone to find a bad jamiroquai bass line
Justin Timberlake wishes.
no, Justin Timberlake is not funky enough. He funky , but not enough :)
See, why couldn't this be mainstream! No, Justin Timberlake )in my opinion) doesn't have the soul or groove for this. I think you have to learn musical instruments, chord progressions, and be in a band to get this sound. Justin would make it synthetic and algorithmic and mess it up. I like non pupated artists.
Justin Timberlake straight up copied this.
3:15 I can't see that as he hasn't got the talent plus he's a yank who was in a cheesy boyband. Us Brits are organic.
