Ohhhh. James Taylor. How amazing. James Taylor. Always, all ways will be. Amazing.
Pure joy!
Track 5 on James' AMERICAN STANDARD (2020) album, the first version offered at KZread this day is a 'live' appearance at New York's Ed Sullivan Theater - “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” with the highest quality audio/ video. (I left the Late Show a note at the time: “My compliments to the cameramen (women?) - and the 'switcher' in the control room -- for the artless precision of this video.” Mr. Taylor's co-arranger “for two guitars” John Pizzarelli playing jazz accompaniment on his late father's D'Angelico archtop. But you knew that, right? As for the song, the show stopper in the Lerner & Loewe Broadway show BRIGADOON, introduced the night of March 13, 1947. (Okay I remember the date as I was born earlier that same day.) I close my eyes and imagine an infant James Taylor (b. March 12, 1948) hearing it for the first time in his crib when his musical Mom put on Sinatra's 78 rpm record - or turned up the sound when it came on radio. Imagine those impressionable little ears 'perking up' at those beautiful sounds. And left to percolate 70 years.
The creeps here making rude comments- you are just trash and have no class! James still has it! Great arrangements and I like the harmonies. Classic song that is timeless given a new interpretation!

It appears those comments have been removed, I didn't see them, it's hard to fathom anyone saying something negative about this great man, it's upsetting to even hear someone was doing that, just sad and wrong.
James Taylor a legend
Sublime interpretation of this song. I have attended many James Taylor concerts for the last 41 years.
Just a genius...amazing!!!

This so so beautiful.. been a fan of James Taylor like forever
Melodica! Spin me out on the dance floor before life gets too slow.
Can we just focus on these vibes for a few years?
Thanks to your Dad for caring and loving you enough to pick you up when you were down Your gift is amazing and you have touched many people through your music.
First concert I ever went to was James Taylor in Memphis in 7th grade. Saw him a few years ago in Memphis on Mud Island...it was almost like being in love! God love him and Stephen for having him on again. Grazie infinite!
So wholesome. I wish more mainstream music encouragesd genuine innocence like this
I love Judy's version but James is just so right, I could tell I was falling in love!

The arrangement and musical performance is outstanding. James' vocals are disappointing though. As recently as a year or two ago he still sounded pretty good so maybe he just had an off night or a cold.

Another one that shouldn't be trying to sing if that's what you call it, hang it up and retire for God's sake!
I understand he has his fans, but can’t for the life of me understand why? His music has a seriously negative effect on me, I hear it and get angry or just want to puke! And WTF Colbert!!! This is t to he third time he’s been on this year!!! Why?! For god sake, why?!!!!

Stacey Northrup I do realize this is my problem - I am mostly frustrated because I don’t get the attraction to his music and I am willing to consider some of my dislike of Taylor’s work comes from a feeling of being left out 😜
@benjaminj.kreger-creative8001
4 жыл бұрын
Stacey Northrup How am I gaslighting? I expressed my feelings of frustration. That is not gaslighting. I then agreed with your comment calling me a hater Cause yeah, my comment went over the line of couth, but in. no way are my actions gaslighting or trolling. I do acknowledge they were rude. I was having a bad morning and an entertainer I happen to strongly dislike shows up on a show I watch every morning to lighten my mood, for the third time in a few weeks. Yeah, I got annoyed and allowed it to further ruin my day. So, I complained. Not to you, not to gaslight or troll, but to The Late Show. I will note I often post positive comments on videos I like. A negative comment like this is something I usually avoid doing, but as I stated, I was having a bad morning. But I guess, haters gonna hate 🤪

Also, I didn’t watch the video - at least no longer than it took to write my original complaint. But that’s all it really was, a complaint. Haven’t you complained on a video before? And how would you feel if your favorite show kept having a guest on it who annoyed the hell out of you? I bet, you’d complain. It’s kinda what ya Americans do these days isn’t it?
This is a 73 year old song. Write a new song someone. Zzz
