@Stephen Conway the Conservative government removed all ways of applying for asylum from overseas, and have acknowledged that the only way to claim asylum in the UK is to get here and make a claim. At the same time that they did this, they talked about sinking the boats or using wave machines to turn them back(!) Yeah it is the most disgusting, cynical approach possible

She's seventy five and doesn't remember anything about Pakistan/India until about 1953. Of course, most ordinary folk were still very pro-British then, anyway, as you know. The current laws are adequate. If people come illegally at an airport they are sent straight back. If boats are intercepted in the channel they should also be sent straight back. The law is no different just because they are in a rubber boat. By bringing them to England the Border force are creating the problem. Immigration is capitalism importing an over supply of labour in, which is a race to the bottom particularly for the working class. Oligarchs love immigration. Capitalism will never invest in training or increase pay and conditions if it can just fly in labour in. Back in the day the Left understood this, even Bernie Sanders was anti immigration.

@@lisab4207 You're quite right to bring that up. The problem is O'Brien makes sure all the callers are carefully screened by his lackies, and only speaks to the most inarticulate and easily overcome. It's simply a form of bear baiting, which wouldn't be tolerated if the host was considered to be in any way of a right wing persuasion. I've said previously, nobody does hate quite like O'Brien, but because he's a leftie he's allowed to get away with it and is careful to only ever insult caucasians, as he knows that'll never result in any sanctions.

As a small boy I saw the evidence of a mass execution of a group of men opposed to a government I West Africa. A line of bullet holes in a wall. It stuck with me because these unfortunates held different beliefs from those in power.

Some people really are oblivious. Even if we gave that caller the benefit of the doubt and agreed the Nazi's didn't use those specific words it still doesn't change the fact that those words serve the same purpose. to dehumanize and villainise a particular group of people. This level of self centred ignorance is depressing.

Let's be honest - in the last 10 years or so this country has become an absolute cesspit. It's a depressing place to live. I'm far more concerned about the ignorant and prejudiced taking over than I am about those coming across in a dinghy. The increase in hate has become almost unbearable. The question: "Why isn't it concerning that the language used is similar to that of the nazis?" This caller's answer: "Because in this case the words are correct, while the nazis were wrong." Well that's disturbing.

As an Irishman living abroad, very very far away from the UK, I would like to reassure the caller that I don't know any locals here who want to 'invade' the UK due to the shitshow we are all witnessing from a safe distance. Well hopefully it's a safe distance 🤔🤔

As someone with Jewish ancestry I found this conversation really disturbing that the caller could not or would not understand what he was saying about this kind of language. Thankyou James for holding him to account. I hope he used Google to his benefit!

There is the old idea that "education" is there to bring out what is inside of a person. Eucare. This person does indeed education to put something inside of him. There are a lot of people using the term "woke" not understanding what it really means. It means empathy at it's most basic level. It means understanding real history and not a list of battles and dates. When my headmaster told me the core meaning behind "education" and "empathy" it changed my view significantly. This person is seemingly past that point. The first weapons in a war against another people are "words". Careless words, jokey words, taunting words, aggressive words, violent words...then once you have dehumanized the oppressed you follow up with actions. That was the 1930's.

@@arbjful Absolutely. In fact some times being educated makes you arrogant which is an excellent breeding ground for ignorance. So always check and check again your assumptions and the places you get your information. However, be careful as more places exist with more misinformation.

I fact checked this, since James didn't do it on the spot. While I cant find any direct references to a swarm, there are numerous examples where they were indirectly called a swarm. For example, there are numerous instances of comparing them to parasites, pestilence and locusts. Also, while I cant find any direct examples of the word invasion, there are numerous examples of words such as infiltration and subversion from within. If anyone can find direct, examples, please copy paste them here.

@@davidrenton I moved to Copenhagen, Denmark. Tbh, apart from not seeing my family ‘back home’ quite so regularly, I can’t think of one aspect of my life that I would be better off in, if I hadn’t left. It honestly pains me to see what has become of the U.K. over the last decade or so!
