When I view a scenic layout one of the first questions I ask myself is this. 'Would I want to visit this place?' To your layout I give a resounding yes. Just seems like a very charming, lovely little world you've created and I particularly like your use of lights. Very creative and colorful. Great job.

The spiral walkway is awesome. I've always thought a spiral train track going high up in the mountains top would be amazing.

Hi, James. You should very well be proud of your layout. Quite impressive for a first project. I'm working on my first ever model train layout -- a 4x8 N scale. I'm at that stage you mentioned of having to take up my tracks so to start my plastering. It is scary. Your step-by-step descriptions are a great help to me. Thank you and enjoy your trains.

That's one of the nicest layouts I've seen in any scale! I've been buying both HO and N scale stuff to build a layout not deciding which one I really want. I thought about incorporating both using N in the rear as a forced perspective. Not sure but think I'm gonna start with my N scale stuff first and see where that goes after seeing your layout.

Thanks for the compliment, Richard! Yeah I like n scale because I felt I could do more in a 4x8 space. Remember it’s your layout so you can mix scales all you want!
Really nice, James! For a first layout this is amazing!! Thank you for this compilation!

Aw thanks raider!! The stalactites and stalagmites were 3d printed, I found a free plan for them online and had them printed with Craftcloud. Good luck!
Great to see the progression of the build. It showed details that I either missed or forgot. I think it is time to embellish the layout’s story some more. The Ancient Tuverstone Dentil Wall was build by the Tuver’s, a pre-Bronze Age Neolithic people. Not much is known about the Tuver’s except that they had good teeth and flossed. Tuver Lake is a constant level body of water fed from mountain springs. What makes it unique is the fact that hydrological studies can’t find surface features of how it drains and maintains a constant level. Most likely is that it sits on top of a cave system, the entrance of which can be seen on the James outcrop of Tuver Mountain, and drains into a larger Aquifer.

That's a great looking little layout. If I had more room I would build another about this size. :) Mine started as a door layout in my designs and ended up bing 4 x 7. lol I have 3 trains, 2 trams, and 1 bus running all N scale.

Super! Thanks for checking it out
James, over the holiday I binged a YT channel from the UK that is also in N scale. It is called Chandwell and Michael the owner uses “forced perspective” to make the streets and buildings look as if they curve and continue on in the city out of sight. It is an optical allusion. He also has a back story for everything on the layout. I thought of your artistic ability as I watched. Give it a look and hopefully you won’t start going down the rabbit hole of allusion like Michael, or maybe you will and we won’t be able to tell the difference. Happy New Year.

Thanks, Jack!! I will check it out and Happy New Year to you, too.
The top of your mountain looks like the”Sorting Hat”from the “Harry Potter” movies. I’m starting my 1st 4x8 N scale layout 12/27/2022. My first train layout period. Your layout is gorgeous, I will work towards that direction. Thanks for sharing! May you have a prosperous and Happy New Year !!!

Hey Stephen you’re right! That mountain sure looks like the Sorting Hat alright! It was so fun to build and thanks for the compliments. I’m excited to see how you do on your first layout!! I really recommend getting the Woodland Scenics guide to model scenery if you like the look of my layout.
Wow great job James. It really came together well. Are you sure you’re a first time modeler😂? Thank for sharing.
