Hopefully they release the making of 72 seasons just like they did with Death Magnetic and Hardwired they were really entertaining
Letting Kirk and Rob "build" on songs is how we got the riff in My apocalypse.. ironically it's kirks but was proposed by Rob. Same with all nightmare long.. started with an acoustic just shooting the breeze. Odd things happen when everyone is involved, that's not to say Lars/James aren't spearheading the thing but open to interjections is a good thing.

I think they got better at opening up the music creation side of the band after Jason left and Rob joined in. Kirk just screwed up on Hardwired by not bringing anything and just randomly soloing. Death Magnetic had amazing solos and work by Kirk and Rob, and 72 had even more.
When it's a whole band effort things work out a lot better just like in life
I have read the whole interview. Nice to look at it too. Thanks. The approach to the making of the album matters plenty.
Love James and metallica for life they are just true and amazing I wish we could have metallica forever they never make bad music I just thank GOD that they are still around I also pray one day I can meet my music heros
James, your writing is only getting better. Inamorata may be your Magnum Opus. It is truly powerful and beautiful from both lyrical and musical perspectives.
That was a bit of a bold statement coming from him about not wanting to create songs just him and Lars anymore. I think he/they go through phases where the get diplomatic, then they go back to dictatorship mode; so I won't put a ton of stock in it. Just interesting to hear.

Idk. They’re a lot older now, they all seem very happy with the dynamic and they all seemed pumped for the record. Even if we don’t like it, I’m glad they’re happy
They need a podcast on the road called wherever I may roam. I would love nothing more than to sit down and talk with him for a few hours.
Great interview
It's the first time I find a good video on your channel ! 👍
All they need now is a time machine!
James has finally grown up! He’s really Papa Het now. If only Jason didn’t leave and stuck it out until he got to this point with them. Sorry, I still miss Jason!
sounds like a so much better approach then Hardwired
I don't really get it because other than Hardwired album Kirk has always contributed riffs and parts of songs. I understand the bulk comes from James but he still contributes.

Not really, I believe he has like 3 contributions on Death Magnetic, quite a few lyric contributions on St Anger, not too many on load or reload and barely any on the Black Album, this is the most Kirk has contributed since the 80’s I believe
Wheres the full interview?

Yeah he lost a lot of weight and muscles. His neck got scinier and that's whay he looks "sick", but that's aging. In late 50' and early 60's we start to lose so much muscles.

He does. I am hoping it's like Reza and Vladan stated and just him aging and nothing serious. It seems like since 11/2021 (only reason I am using this date is I just watched a concert clip from this time frame and he looked awesome) he's gotten too skinny and maybe that is making him look older than he is. Kirk and Lars are about the same age but seem to not be showing their age as much as James is (genetics/life experiences?).

Honestly, I've been wondering if he's ok for the past few months. He seems like he's in a really good place, but some of those pictures and footage of him he looks like he's got cancer or something. I dunno. Maybe lighting, maybe fluctuating diet, I have no idea, but I know I've thought the same thing several times. Plus him being more publicly emotional, and taking life more seriously. Could be the divorce, could be fear of aging. Who knows.

@@KateC1431 I agree he looks a little too worn out for his age and not that energetic, my assumption was that the recent divorce just took a lot out of him. especially in his recent interview with jimmy kimmel, it's just seems he is not there in the room with everyone, acting like a robot with a forced smile. usually I have seen people go through that phase when they hit a super stressful situation, they suddenly zone out.
I don’t care what anyone says, 72 seasons is an amazing album and really let’s me take confidence in knowing that Metallica is here and isn’t going anywhere
He reminds me of my dad but opposit. I buy Metallica records and he'd throw them in the trash and tell me son your going to hell . I'm like what
James: "Kirk, keep sending me riffs! Bruh, Kirk only got 4 credits on this album, out of 12 songs...
Jaymz says the doesn't want to work with Lars alone anymore, but to be honest, Lux Aeterna is my favorite of singles, which has only Lars and James as contributors and i'm hoping the rest of their songs are as simple and as catchy as the first single. The rest of released singles (those have additional Hammett or Trujillo in credits) are too long and overcomplicated just like songs from AJFA, but they're missing the same creativity and aggression that made AJFA what it is
Heard it all before in some kind of monster documentary. 🤷♂️

0:50 well when your whole career is james and lars deciding everything and controlling it all and suddenly theraputic james says ok now kirk and rob you guys can have creative input in writing process. I think although james is trying hard i would still feel kinda weird about just stepping into this spotlight he has opened for first time after 40 years how does that work? im sure its like thanks for the gesture but we know our lanes still but il try and have confidence to tell you i want it to sound this way? lol
So this is what happens when you feel safe to share? Honestly, this album is not even comparable to the works of your past! I'm saying this seriously!

This producer greg, ever since he came around this band has gotten more and more generic sounding. The songs barely even sound like real songs to me. They just sound like they got together for 2 hours, jammed on some pretty average riffs, and greg instead of helping these guys craft great melodies and memorable SONGS, just glued it all together in protools like the very average robotic producer he is. It really helps when you have a producer who is a songwriter themselves, like bob rock was, not just an engineer like greg is. Greg shouldnt be producing. He should be engineering.

After trying to listen to 72 Boredoms, and James saying everyone was helping with the music, I think James should go back to writing the music by himself. The long, plodding, drawn out songs show that there are too many cooks in the kitchen

I was disappointed with the album. It all sounds the same. Metallica needs a new producer.
Hetfield is out of ideas and that is clear with this latest album. Lyrically he basically read Dr. Seuss for inspiration "Awesome, let me rhyme everything". Constipation, Configuration...bla bla bla bla bla....Dilation, Conflagulation....bla bla bla bla bla....".

idk if thats why he wants more collab from rob and kirk, but i definitely think 72 seasons sounds so generic because of their seemingly more democratic approach this time

I hate to admit it but yes thats true, he openly admits that we had less ingredients and somehow you feel they just released an album for the sake of releasing an album not because they had new ideas. Apart from that he seems not so well, i dont know if its because of the divorce or its just him aging. With all that said we can not blame him, thats what he loves doing and what keeps him going, we can not expect him to stop because he is not as good as he was.

@@rezaasadi890did you even hear the interview, he openly talks about how he wanted Band members to include themselves in it and so he could hear their ideas, they’ve had ideas since the Hardwired tour started, most of their ideas come in the tuning room

Actually look at the meaning of the song and then look at the lyrics, the lyrics are directly related to the song, you don’t like how it’s sung and that’s fine but that style is exactly the style incorporated in AJFA and Kill Em All so as long as you throw shade their way then cool
