Admitting that you were abusive to a woman doesn't give you a get out of jail pass. Domestic abusers have a certain mindset that motivates their actions. I didn't hear james say that his thinking was wrong. He now knows the right things to say. Domestic abusers are very difficult to reach. I have heard other interviews that james gave. He said that he needed to find a way to control his anger. The anger comes from a sense of entitlement and a lack of empathy. These people are chameleons. They can cry and beg for your forgiveness but at the end of the day , they are still violent dangerous men.

I remember when I was a young girl and I heard about the Kobe Bryant scandal. I was so mad at him and speaking evil of him. Then I heard the voice of God say, “Forgive Him.” I want to say this to myself and to those watching, “forgive him.” I forgive because I want to keep hearing that audible voice or direction and correction. Because you need it, too.

I hope he is still getting therapy and come to the understanding that years of abuse leaves lasting scares. In the beginning he said he did break any bones but he needs to understand he broke something far more precious.

I'm sorry but I really believe it's an act..God is sooooo forgiven and I know God forgives him. I hope he just learns from this. I was a huge fan and have alot of his music. I went through this and I had to watch my mom go through this..as well as my siblings. I really don't know what to say about him...this is so sad..mainly because his wife has been throwing out accusations and nobody believed her. It's a lesson learned for the next person. When someone says they are being abused stay by there side and try and help...even if they don't want it..they will eventually get tired!!

When a man (person) admits that he is wrong, he can grow. I read a wonderful book called "BETRAYED, Will Ever Be Able To Trust You Again." It's good for all. I am praying for he and his wife and their children. Though we all have sinned, God has called us to a higher standard, and we just have to truly repent, accept the consequences and ask God to help us grow in the cycle. We need to be taught new behavior....

To everyone saying they respect this man is very disheartening. Aside from physically abusing his wife which he never says he placed his 4 year old stepson in scalding hot water. The pictures of the 3 Rd and 4th degrees burns is absolutely horrendous. For his now ex wife to continue to stay with him afterwards shows how much control and fear this monster had over her. I will never have respect for this man. I can't believe Willie Moore gave him a platform to stand on without talking about that.

James we all have done wrong that includes men and women. We have all ask for forgiveness. We have all have hurt people or been hurt by people. After we ask God to forgive us we than have the task place upon us to make a difference in life. I know you may not ever be able to be with your wife again but you will always be God child. Churchs may close their door on you but God will never turn his back on. I don't agree with violence wether it a man or a woman. It should take place. I was married to a woman that call me a new name everyday we were married and than she said she love me. I saw my mom get beat by a man that tell blood came from her eyes. I not here to put you down but to help you. Just like they have sin I have sin and feel short of the glory of God to. How can we help end this if we keep put a bandaid on it. Thank you for opening up to us and letting us see your truth. If you stay with God he will lead you the right way. I will pray for and with you because we are all in this together. Your song say I believe God will heal the family. keep doing your music and if its real God will pull you through it. This is love your Godly brother.

His testimony is my passion. We, as a nation, have to do more to heal the pain from the abuser and it starts with acknowledgement, then support. This will remove the fear of speaking out while freeing the batter from the brokenness within them. Yes, I am a victim for the past 12 years now. I am forever grateful for the programs to support those like me but if we do nothing to help the author of this confusion, we do nothing for the epidemic. Thank you James Fortune for the courage to take a stand. I will use your testimony as I continue my discussions with law makers. Willie Moore Jr, please, partner with me to pierce the ears of your listeners. Thank you for this opportunity to hear and comment. God Bless

I've seen domestic abuse up close & his behavior is textbook deception. The only thing that stops a long-time abuser is to hold them accountable. All of this sympathy after he cries is what he wants & is only going to make him worse.

NO ONE has no right to judge but GOD according to his word!! Proverbs 24:16 says: For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Pray for this brother be proud of not what he did, but how he is being honest..he pleaded guilty..not too many ppl these days will confess their guilt even though they know they are guilty!! This man was obviously facing demons and look at him now God has redeemed him!! Thank you LORD for renewing my Brother in Christ, Thank you LORD for making him a better Father, A Better Husband, A better Man of God!! Thank you LORD for taking over this man's life and renewing his mind, the way he talk, the way he walk. LORD it could have been worst but thank you Lord for sparing that child's life and removing those demons from this Brother so that he can walk by faith and not by sight!! No matter what ppl may think about this Brother or what punishment he should have, God gave this man a second chance, he saw different for this person's life and that's the best blessing ever. He is a forgiving merciful powerful GOD!! We should be glad he forgive us too when we ask for forgiveness!! God bless you all and I thank God for you all have a blessed day beautiful ppl!

I don't think y'all understand the true meaning of forgiveness... true meaning of repentance. Forgiveness isn't accepting the actions of sinners, and forgetting what the action is. True forgiveness is given to them that NO LONGER do what they've done. You can't be forgiven if you're still doing what you've done. Just because you've asked God for it, it's all about what's in your heart, your spirit, your mouth and on your tongue, your actions. So God forgive us because we repent of the things we've done and we choose from this day forward to not EVER do it again. When you commit to that, truly you'll be forgiven.

I know God has redemption power, and I most certainly believe on forgiveness, and I pray for Bro. Fortune. However I think its shameful that those who knew about this, and enabled him (i.e. Pastor, Producer, Friends) should be ashamed for promoting him as a true worshiper, while abusing his family. This is what's going on in Churches everywhere, and every denomination people are looking away and/or pretending it's not happening.

Get out. He cries but believe me it's not for the VICTIMS.HE'S CRYING BECAUSE HE GOT CAUGHT! These tears are for himself. I know I was an abused wife for 9 years. Ended when I finally made up my mine to get out. He then shot me 6 times (38 hollow points) as I sat in the car with 2 of our 3 children. He to cried real tears each time I left him. But he continued to beat me when I returned after his having shown up on my jobs or where ever I'd moved too. Don't be fooled by these tears!!! I'm not.....

But know that the Ex husband has found himself and moved on with a new family. We should move into the present and forget about the past until it happens again.

I'll be real with you #1: Don't hit a woman I've had sex outside a relationship one time, but I never would dare beat her. Tbh, we do wrong, but there is an restriction when you are really out of line, when you are punching and hitting someone, possibly thinking you can get away with it, when she is crying for help from the neighbors. You got to know when to walk away and people do it, but everybody knows you shouldn't oppose your will on a woman in a combative way, but I'm glad he is making attempts to make a good out of something negative, I hope he continues. Also, I'm glad about the response. Every sin is the same, but some are more severe than others. Also, got to think how she feels about this, because she is the abused. THe thing is about hurting, is if you hurt somebody, in time their wounds will hear, but your won't, but you got to know the limit.
