'Making the audience feel like they've created a hit' is such a brilliant way to put it

Yeah I literally never thought of about that but it’s so true The most obvious modern example is something like Stranger Things and this way of think is still applicable
This episode was great! I wasn't aware of James until I first heard him on "Smartless", but now I really like him. He has all these years of work experience with a lot of wisdom to share. And his thoughts on the current state of the industry and how much it has changed were really insightful.
Wow. "You provided me 85,000 laughs!" Thats almost as good a line as "I love you 3000!" 🥰💜
Conan already knew Lisa Kudrow!
Very interesting interview. I'd be interested in more interviews with people from different periods in TV history talking about the conditions of the time and so on. Very interesting.
This book was great. Really admire him and his instincts. And grateful for all of the laughs he’s shepherded into my eyeholes. ♥️

Two greats
The only one I think that worked really well bringing in a star was Bryan Cranston to do Breaking Bad. I think it made the whole ' breaking bad' part of the show work better because for the first half of the first season, many of us saw 'Hal'... and so the character transformation worked really well. If they had used an unknown actor or a guy who played bad guys before, we wouldn't have felt that huge shift from goofy Hal to a guy running people over with his car.
JAMES ❤❤❤
Good stuff
The Class was a great show!!

Exactly my thoughts! I was sad when it didn't took on.
I disinctly remember saying... This FRIENDS show is gonna be a BIG ☺ ( when i saw Lisa)😍
Its weird that to me he's famous because I saw him in The Comeback.
For when the full episodes on KZread?
full episodes on youtube pls
The vertical beam they used in Monica and Rachel's apartment in the first season is very distracting. I'm glad they got rid of it in the second season, even if James burrows liked it for editing
Courteney Cox was the only 'known star' for me when i saw _Friends_ . i first saw her in a short-lived series _Misfits of Science_ and then in the He-Man movie, _Masters of the Universe_ . (i didn't know about her Bruce Springsteen video until many years later.)

You on the Imperfects
Lizzy Caplan was in The Class and talked about her and the cast and being taken to Vegas because it was their "last moment before becoming huge stars". She sounded so bitter it didn't turn out to be the case!
The Class was great...
Technical opinion (probably mentioned before, but)…holy crap, they need to isolate those mics from the table. If a gnat lands on that table, you hear it!

That story refers to the EXECUTIVES not Jim Burrows or the Friends cast. If you want to be salty, as least be right and not misdirect your comments at the wrong people. But I guess that would require research which you're obviously too lazy to do. Living Single was only good for 4 Seasons anyways, so stay mad.

Friends was an okay "hang out" sitcom but it wasn't funny. Watch a couple of scenes here on youtube without the laugh track and you'll see what I mean.

But the comedy is MADE for, and acted around, the existence of a laugh track. It's the equivalent of saying a song sucks if you remove the instruments.
@Daniel_Ilyich
Жыл бұрын
@@raveoreynolds6049 Comedy is made so that people laugh. Not the other way around. Friends was taped in front of a live audience, but each 22 minute episode took 6 hours to make. So, a lot of the laughter was taped. Canned laughter is a way to manipulate TV viewers into laughing even when their genuine reaction would be to not laugh. I'm not saying that there weren't funny moments or that none of the characters had charm. I'm just saying that I didn't find the show to be that funny. I actually wish that there weren't audiences for TV shows. I want to laugh because I find something funny, not via a Pavlovian priming to laugh vis-a-vis a laugh track.
