Lyrics:
Yeah, uh!
Get up, now!
Ow!
Knock out this!
Super highways, coast to coast
Easy to get anywhere
On the transcontinental overload
Just slide behind the wheel
How does it feel
When there's no destination - that's too far
And somewhere on the way
You might find out who you are
Living in America - eye to eye, station to station
Living in America - hand to hand, across the nation
Living in America - got to have a celebration
Rock my soul
Smokestack, fatback
Many miles of railroad track
All night radio, keep on runnin'
Through your rock 'n' roll soul
All night diners keep you awake
Hey, on black coffee and a hard roll
You might have to walk the fine line
You might take the hard line
But everybody's working overtime
Living in America
Eye to eye, station to station
Living in America
Hand to hand, across the nation
Living in America
Got to have a celebration
I live in America, help me out
But I live in America
Wait a minute
You might not be looking for the promised land
But you might find it anyway
Under one of those old familiar names
Like New Orleans (New Orleans)
Detroit City (Detroit City), Dallas (Dallas)
Pittsburg P.A. (Pittsburg P.A.)
New York City (New York City)
Kansas City (Kansas City)
Atlanta (Atlanta), Chicago and L.A
Living in America
Ht me
Living in America
Yeah
I walk in and out
Living in America
I live in America
State lines
Gonna make the prime that
I live in America
Hey
I know what it means, I
Living in America
Eddie Murphy, eat your heart out
Living in America
Hit me, I said now, eye to eye
Station to station
Living in America
So nice, with your bare self
Living in America
I feel good!

@@jarnold3415 It's an apt metaphor for America thinking they're star-spangled awesome at everything until moments later getting a harsh reality check. Something that remains true even to this day, perhaps even more so today. Rocky representing the more humble part of America who recognizes their shortcomings and works hard at them, while Apollo is too blind/arrogant to see them and pays the price for that hubris.
@Alexinytown

@@Devilsnightforlife The harsh reality check in this movie coming from the Soviets engineering a freakishly strong human being by juicing him to the max, which also aptly reflected the issues of the USSR competing in legitimate athletic competition on an even playing field at the time. Truly if this was reality today, it'd be Rocky as the hard working American doing his best to get by, while his trainer (the people they elected with the expectation they would actually be in service to them) is actively working with Drago (the Chinese) to undermine Rocky by screwing him over while lining his own pocket from two sources.

Like if you came here after the sad information R.I.P
I saw this man perform live in Montreal in 1968. I was 15 years old and won a VIP ticket in a radio contest . I was in the third row. No cell phones, no big screens just JB his band and back up singers. A memory never to be forgotten. He was pure electricity.

You do realise that "freedom" exists in about 3/4 of the globe? Your country didn't invent it. The USA is a mere teenager compared to other countries. With teenager tendencies. I cant think of one other country is so flagrant in singing its own praises.

Maybe you can. I'm planning to put together a Retro Decade Revival Project. Our goal is to bring the golden decades of the past from the 1980s to the Victorian Era. It will have a permanent effect. We'll only leave in the good stuff and erase the bad ones by making improvements both ethnically and equally. Care to join the project? Be my guest.

@ETandAssociates

Agreed. It takes confidence to spin your trumpet or sticks on stage. Makes you look like you are in control and yet free to express yourself. Have always loved those moves. As a drummer in a band that covered Hendrix and Led Zepplin, I was more concerned about staying in time and driving the beat versus add-ons. But if I could do it again, I would work on the twirling effect. Thanks for your thoughts.
