James Bond 007 | EVERY "JAMES BOND THEME"
The “James Bond Theme” is synonymous with James Bond himself.
Composed by MONTY NORMAN for the first 007 film adventure, “DOCTOR NO” (1962), the theme immediately became a source of controversy with John Barry claiming authorship. John Barry had re-arranged the theme for Dr.No and subsequently went on to compose the music for eleven Bond films, and defined the big-brass sound of the series. Monty Norman fought in court to prove his creation of the theme several times over the years and is now recognized as the famous theme’s original composer.
Monty Norman passed away at the age of 94 last month (July 2022). In his honour, we present Every "James Bond Theme" heard throughout the series.
Thank you, Monty.

Classy?? He looks like some short little Russian henchman or someone's embarrassing dad trying desperately hard to look like James Bond and failing badly. He is walking really stiff and his suit looks horrendously tight and ill-fitting. His gun is a bizarre thing for a spy to be using, the scene makes no sense whatsoever (even within the context of Bond writing)... Daniel Craig's movies are just awful. Casino Royale showed potential but that went straight out the window with the next one. I found it particularly bizarre how they made such a huge song and dance over rebooting the entire character and franchise, saying it needed radical modernisation, yet they just immediately went on to try desperately hard to make them look really retro 60s, do very little else but endlessly reference the old movies over and over, obsess over terrorism and the fact Bond likes his martinis shaken (we get it...you don't need to make such a massive deal about talking about this is every single movie). Every single Craig movie is just the exact same plot points repeated each time, and every time starts as if "Oh! He's not the real Bond yet, not quite the Bond we know and love, but wait for it... (3 hours of dreary and depressing movie later) Aaaand, NOW he's REALLY James Bond!" (and the movie ends). Then the next movie just goes all the ay back yet again and we have to sit through another 3 hours of depression and systematic destruction of every character since 1962 before being once again conned into thinking Craig is finally going to be James Bond and not some weird, fuggly, stiff and awkward pretend Bond who's always desperately overcompensating and trying too hard to look cool and suave when he just isn't.

Such an iconic movie theme. Everyone knows it. Still awesome
Usually my favorite action scenes are when the Bond theme is im the background. Bond is in full control doing what he does best with pure style. 🔥🔥
It is quite different compared to the usual Bond theme sound, but I would've loved if the Goldeneye Overture was in this compilation. Eric Serra's version of the famous guitar riff played with timpanis is such a unique twist. You can hear it in the movie when Bond escapes from the russians and chases the plane in the beginning and during the gunbarrel sequence. Anyways; well put together! The variety from all of John Barry's versions is outstanding! But I have to say; my personal favorite is Bond 77 from Marvin Hamlish. Classic 70s disco-style combined with a great movie theme. It's very obvious that Hamlish was a huge Bee Gee's-fan.
Very well done. The title “Every” isn’t quite accurate ( several versions are missing, and Quantum isn’t there at all ) but the music is fluid and the segues are in the right places … a very nice representation of Barry’s genius reworking of Norman’s tepid tune. Truly one of the the most recognizable tunes in the world’s consciousness.

@@nigelinasia2088 Nice input, Nigel. Yes the court case (2 of them, I believe) were a sham. Norman’s underscore for certain scenes in “Dr. No” are just plain terrible, having the unintended and unfortunate effect of relegating the film to 1950s era B movie status. So many have singled Norman out as some sort of musical genius on behalf of the JB theme they think he crafted by way of composition/arrangement and I always respond with the same thing: “He wrote NOTHING that sits in the music listener’s collective memories in the last 50 years-nothing”.

My favorite rendition is Live and Let Die / Into Harlem. Curious that Monty Norman derived the basic theme from a musical he was writing...it was originally a happy tune but then he knew it could sound deadly and sexy. John Barry was 50% of Connery's mystique. Imagine SC without Barry.

You forgot, "Opening the Doors" from No Time To die, the music was perfect for Bond's last moment. You felt and experienced that last scene.
This is a great video and an excellent channel! Thanks for all the hard work you must put in to craft these videos. With that being said, (and I don't want to be THAT GUY, but...), I noticed a couple of possible issues: #1. It appears you missed (what is, I believe) the only unique version of the Bond theme in Quantum of Solace. As you know, at the end of the film, the version of the Bond theme that plays as we go to the gun barrel is "The Name is Bond, James Bond" from Casino Royale. So you were right to skip that, but there is a very brief use of the Bond theme at the end of the boat chase in Quantum. For reference, you can hear it on the soundtrack in the piece entitled, "Pursuit at Port Au Prince" at the 4:45 mark and again at 5:34. #2. I may be wrong, but during the final scene in Spectre when Bond is driving off with Madeline in the DB5, I was under the impression that they simply reused David Arnold's "The Name is Bond, James Bond" track from Casino Royale and that it was not a unique instance of the theme. Again, I could be wrong.
oh very nice
Thanks.

A great musical trip through many memorable years and variations of the theme. Nicely put together. Not to rain on Monty Norman's musical achievements in other parts of his career, but I'm on the side of those who believe he gets way more credit for this than he deserves. It was John Barry who took an otherwise obscure tune (a number from an unreleased Norman musical) and arranged it into the iconic theme we know and love. Norman was unable to produce something the filmmakers needed. Just listen to the rest of the Dr. No soundtrack in comparison to the James Bond Theme and you'll hear the stark contrast. Other than the Bond theme, it's a pretty weak score. And of course, who went on to define the Bond 'sound' in 11 soundtracks and leave a huge legacy in Bond music? I recall reading that Barry was compensated a fairly meager sum for his arrangement and Norman received all the royalties on the tune. At least Barry went on to have a fantastic career in scoring film. As someone who was always searching for Bond soundtracks on vinyl when I was growing up, I suspect he was inspired to write the "007 Theme" specifically to create an alternate them that was strictly his own. While it was also good, it's a tune only Bond cinephiles really notice and would never come close to the recognition of the original Bond theme.
6:03 the best bond ❤
