Very emotional song about losing a friend, that you were unaware that they were having problems, great song about friendships in need of healing
This song manages to make me feel grief and sadness, without feeling down and negative about the future, but rather feeling strong and confident in embracing the emotions and continuing to go on to make the best of life, living it to its fullest.
My father passed away before I could say goodbye. August 2001 I entered the hospital room and knew, instantly, you were gone. Cancer took you away, but you'll always be with me and I'll always love you. Thank you, James Blunt, for letting the tears flow.

Know how you feel as I never got to say goodbye to my Mum before cancer took her. Thankfully my Dad, her one brother and his wife were with her. Though she'd been ill for so long the hardest part was seeing DNR in her notes.
Love how James sings ‘ever’ in ‘best friend ever’, so full of emotion. I miss my mom everyday, only two februaries ago… love this song.

@Jamesbluntspot I discovered one of your songs some time back and purchased a couple of your albums. I always take you into my shower and listen to your music. I use it to cry to and to remember when I was younger which may make me cry now! I had my dad living with me for seven years, he had cancer. I remember seeing his clothes folded on his chair and if I didn’t say good night, I wouldn’t have slept because you never know when it’s the last chance one has! He died with me holding his hand and I can still feel his hand in mind, energy flowing through my hand into his heart. I have Monsters as a ring tone, I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t listen to your poetry in song! 🇨🇦☮️❤️
