I read The Fire Next Time. It wasn't an easy read.
November 2021: It’s a short biography but enough to wet one’s appetite to know him more, and read his books.
They need to make a movie about his life. Unless I've been under a rock and they already have.

Abraham Lincoln used to walk miles to borrow a book, Malcolm X transcribed the dictionary while he was in prison. All it takes to become an intellectual is curiosity and drive. The internet with it's nearly infinite information at our fingertips. To educate one's self requires no money just desire.

Visit your local library. Educate yourself, knowledge, wisdom are not taught in schools.

If you understand what that means then you can be, and if you listen to all his lectures he had to choose to be.
Wow. A man's whole life summed up in four minutes. Talk about being damned with faint praise. He deserves better.

I assume then that you watched this video for a school assignment. I hope you can look past the fact that you did it for a teacher and come to know and appreciate Baldwin much better as time goes by. He was one of the mid century's great geniuses.
