I've seen an all-Chinese band from Beijing called 'The Timely Band' do this song in 1988-89 and did very well and very animated with strong rhythm section including drums worthy of a country dance hall.

They are actually Taiwanese. The musical instrument is Chinese.

Their speciality…create nothing...copy…copy...stunningly note perfect 'n' deadly dull...you also see it in their classical pianists/violinists

As an appalachia native, I absolutely enjoy and appreciate other cultures enjoying our music and culture, and y'all done a fine job 💯👍👍😁❤

I love them! I live in the southern Blue Ridge Mountains. They can come over tomorrow afternoon for some barbecue, Brunswick stew, green beans and sweet Ice Tea!

Such a sweet voice. That Erhu sounds great in Bluegrass.

The Erhu should become a required bluegrass instrument from now on. Fantastic rendition!

She REALLY makes it sing in their version of "Amarillo by Morning." Worth a listen!

As someone who has lived a significant portion of my life in Louisiana, I wholeheartedly approve. Well done.

Outstanding performance of a great song. As a lifelong Hank Williams fan, I am blown away.

Who said that East could not meet West? Splendid rendition especially of the erhu. Never thought the erhu could fit into a western orchestra!

After listening a few times i finally appreciate the stunning beauty of this music: the soft, yet passionate, singing and the understated playing. China has many beautiful things.

That was a great rendition! Such a soft beautiful voice!

Well that was fun. I really enjoyed their version of this Hank Williams classic. I didn't know what an erhu is until now, but I liked its sound and the talent it takes to play this instrument. Everything was just great. Double-thumbs up to this group.

I loved it but wish I could have seen some smiles knowing they were enjoying making the music as much as I was enjoying listening to it. Did love the erhu too! Added a really nice touch.

Amazing erhu part and cool laid back banjo. That soothing lyric and immaculate bass completes the song. Very nice indeed! :)

Nicely done, guys. I loved the banjo breaks blending in some melodic picking. I also enjoyed the erhu being used in place of a traditional fiddle. Creative and excellent!

How 'bout that? Blue grass music from China. That was a beautiful performance by the singer and blue grass band. Singer has a nice calm soft voice. You all make Hank Williams proud. Thank you very much for sharing.

These kids are awesome! Very nicely done. Their stage presence is rather subdued, but that could be a cultural thing. It's all good.

BETSY is so sweet in her humble personality when performing, but not to confuse her singing that is actually very nice because of her melodic voice that comes with a gentle mellow tremolo that can easily be accepted to anyone's hearing... BETSY, don't stop your singing for you bring pleasure to people...

The Erhu is now one of my favorite instruments. So much sound from just two strings. I live in the Ozarks where bluegrass music is more popular than any other music genre and this group does some of the best. I hope they do more. Keep up the good work, Eric!

Great to see another traditional instrument playing traditional bluegrass with great players and a singer

It happens that a song meets a group and singers and it fits perfectly. This is. As if the song was written specifically just for you. Great combination of instruments, beautifully played. Gentle singing voice in fine, clear English instead of the American potato English (sorry dear Americans) take the song to a completely different level. Eric Shi, there are countless excellent musicians on earth, but few such perfectly swinging combinations of musicians, singers and pieces of music. Something like this is a godsend and needs to be continued. And at the end you are allowed to be happy about the successful performance, not just smile inwardly.

It would be great if we have another song from the same band. KZread keeps suggesting this video and I end up watching it almost every day!

That's how infectious American culture is. Here in the Cordilleras in northern Philippines, most of our people are lovers of American country music for decades now since the Americans established Camp John Hay in Baguio city.

chinese ehru is usually for playing melodramatic melodies - one of the famous example is the Butterfly Lover Concerto - ehru's counterpart is the violin which the Butterfly Lover Concerto was originally written for ( see youtube - kzread.info/dash/bejne/pqlputGhhbWZgMo.html&start_radio=1 --------------- this video also shows the chinese counterpart of the trumpet as well )
