Growing up in Jamaica as a child, no one told me that I was an African but because of my surroundings, the music and the culture, I knew that I/we were special and that we were strong and that made me love myself and everything about my people. I was always interested in choosing books from the library about Africa to learn more…they were my favorite. Thank God for the Jamaican culture, we know who we are and our future generations are even more educated now about who we are.

@hiyahiy from my experience as a Kingston Tour guide, foreigners normally visit the likes of Coronation Market, Spanish Town, Trench Town, and Tivoli Gardens to capture content for social media. Whether to portray the area in a negative or positive way, often referring to these areas as slums, no go areas. You rarely see Caucasians strolling through these areas without a camera in their hands. Capturing footage to hype their social media platforms. It has, therefore, become the normal for some locals to perform for visitors, ie.sing dance, joke, etc, and ve seen to be giving them preferential treatment. From my experience in strolling all areas downtown, locals are friendly and accommodating. However, if I were to take out a camera and tried capturing content, as foreigners do, it would be frowned upon unless I conveyed the fact that I was a visitor.

Maybe we need to tell people we love them more often in Jamaica. There are many forms of Love and it is sickening that the English language only choose one form, Eros. As Jamaicans we can make anything popular or cultural, so let's say the right word for the form of love we want to say to our fellowman. Choose from the List below. @wodemaya was saying agape- which is love for our fellowman, the love that the Almighty says we should have for each other. To Love your neighbor as yourself is the Agape Love. So why not say- Agape to our neighbors to let them know we love them as The Almighty say we should. Lets start telling each other the love we have for them by using the right word. See Below: 1.Eros- sexual passion 2. Philia, or deep friendship 3. Ludus, or playful love 4. Agape, or love for everyone 5. Pragma, or longstanding love 6. Philautia, or love of the self For more in dept understanding of each love, click the ling below. www.yesmagazine.org/health-happiness/2013/12/28/the-ancient-greeks-6-words-for-love-and-why-knowing-them-can-change-your-life?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwxLKxBhA7EiwAXO0R0KkHBhGCStqFRiFaXn2d5nZSCTEhjCvQT1JOgq6A6Nyv7Pn3noYgdxoCpLMQAvD_BwE
